One Last Thing. I'm down on Pompano Beach (on the beach), about 5 miles from Champion Porsche, a few hours from Homestead and Sebring, so if anyone ends up in this part of the country for car stuff (and presuming your not a serial killer or anything like that), give me a holler for a place to crash, recs on restaurants, mechanics, etc, etc.

Yeah. Sorry to hear about the MI weather. It's been crazy. When I was up there I think I lucked out in that there were a few relatively cool, non-humid days. Trust me, there's plenty of breeze down on Pompano Beach. The guys are out kite surfing every day. So if there's a loud knock on my door, I'll just ask for the magic word:
XLR82XS....
Great screen name. And even better license plate if you're looking for attention from the 50.
Ciao.

Man, sorry to hear about this. I just picked up mine last week and I didn't want to read your thread at first, fearing it could be a contagious condition with new cars to those who just got new ones. By the end of the post, I see you are due a huge does of good Karma. Really nice of you to offer up assistance to others as you are in need of some yourself. Class act. Hope it comes out ok.

I have to admit... I thought about this thread this entire weekend. I flew up to MN to pick up a car and drove it back. The previous owner even has an aftermarket warranty, but it takes a month to transfer the plan to a new owner.
Thankfully I didn't encounter any issues. Sorry to hear about your situation, OP. I hope the damage is minimal.

If this was my old car that I sold in '08, then it had a fully built motor done by Todd K. at Protomotive that lasted for over 5 years and two owners. As far as I'm aware, it was only built the one time that I had it done, and never had the motor dropped again to have the studs re-torqued.
The build was essentially the same as Todd's (Blackhorseturbo) build, which seems to be running just fine.

Car in transit
Hello All.
Quick update. So the car was picked up on Friday, so I expect it to arrive within the next 48 hours. I want to give a quick shout out to Todd Knighton at Protomotive in AK and David at Prototech in Pompano Beach, FL. Both have been extremely helpful in answering my questions and providing guidance in this difficult situation. In particular, I want to thank David for arranging hassle-free shipping. I would highly recommend checking out the RSR that he built. He builds some serious beasts down here in the sunshine state.

I hope everyone is doing well. I will keep you posted. Again, many thanks to both David and Todd, both stand-up guys.

PS DON'T TRY THAT ON A PUBLIC ROAD!!!!

Hi Steve
Beatiful car. Nice to meet fellow members in this neck of the woods. Luckily I'm not a big drinker otherwise I would have drowned my sorrows. Nevertheless, let me know if you're up for grabbing a beer sometime. I'm relatively new to the area. And I want to check out that gorgeous car.
Give me a shout. Martin is coming back in town and his RUF R GT2 is a sight to see, if he will come out and play
