Anyone have FACTUAL support for UMW vs EPL Tunes?

I just read about 15 threads covering various reflashes, but 95% of the responses are

"+1 for UMW"

"EPL. End of story"

"Kevin is the BEST"

"You're going to need a new clutch there's so much more power with ____ Flash"

Frankly, most of that is just not useful. Has anyone compared the two in any semi scientific way to determine things like:

-UMW's tune has more torque below 3k.
-EPL tuning yields better results than UMW if paired with an exhaust only.
-EPL's boost comes on more smoothly at partial throttle (not purely factual but at least it's comparative)

That kind of stuff. I fully expect smart @ss responses like "Kevin is the best"

The best way to accomplish what you are looking for is having 1 car from every tuner on my dyno back-to-back and then compare graphs. All K16 (or whatever turbo) cars with and without aftermartket exhausts. I would do a package price for dyno use as well.

Why would anyone get both tunes for the same car to try to determine which is "better"? I will say I had the GIAC tune and went to UMW and was pleasantly surprised.

Personally, there always seems to be a few top tier tuners (depending upon vehicle/make/model). EPL and UMW are both top notch.

Go with whichever you feel more comfortable with.

Criteria may be cost, a local shop as an authorized installer, support, which tuner may be around longer, future needs...

Ironically I was planning to make an identical thread today trying to compare UMW, EPL, and Protomotive.

In terms of cost effectiveness, etc I can see the value to discounted re-tunes, which I am not sure all (3) of the above include. However, I too am interested in any factual support for which of the above (3) is best in terms of EGTs, area under the curve, and reliability.

This.

The tunes are so close when you are not 'pushing the envelope' that the decision should really be driven by second order considerations.

Are you a DIY?
Do you have a local shop working on your car? Who do THEY like?

IMO, these are the issues that will separate the tunes - in YOUR circumstance.

I have driven, Upsolute, UMW, GIAC, EPL. all extensively.

Upsolute- Didn't have the low down tq or like the others. Throttle response was good. Varied a lot day by day on power -- how it came on.
UMW- Great low end tq, good high end power, noticeable dip in middle of 5,000 rpm. than revs back up fast. Great throttle response.
GIAC- Felt the same in terms of power as the UMW minus the throttle response. Raced my good friend from the forum, same gear (4th to eliminate driver), same mods, dead even all the way.
EPL- Great low end tq like UMW, better top end power than UMW, the dip at about 5,000 was not as noticeable. Felt freer rev. Throttle was slightly slower than UMW. Only slightly noticeable at the road racing track.

Best comparison I have seen yet!
