high pitched whine noise

My 2004 TT just developed this high pitched whine at low speeds like 25-30mph in 2nd/3rd gear. It's not real loud by annoying enough with the cabrio top down. Any ideas what this might be , or what to do to fix it?

Could be transmission bearings. Does it sound different on deceleration? How about when you ease the clutch out on a downshift?

Does the sound go away when you put the clutch in?

Sound stops when I depress clutch. Also, noticed the clutch pedal a bit hard to depress upon start up. Once started it is fine. I have been reading hear about power steering reservoir valve issues with similar symptoms. Anybody know the cost of such a repair if this is the diagnosis?

Sounds like you have both the power steering reservoir and clutch slave and accumulator problems at the same time. Gonna cost you a few bucks.
