Werd... plus, I am going to take this opportunity to question Erics pedal dancing methods. Eric, do you double clutch when you downshift? I just can't see first gear engaging at those speeds.

Huh? I thought he was at a dealer test driving with a salesman, which would mean it wasn't his own car right? He said the salesman mentioned to watch the break-in, so I assume it was new and stock.

Arlings talkin about the Murci. that thing is a beast. he didn't buy the m3, got the evo instead, not fun at all for drifting, the **** doesn't break loose.

as for the over reving thing, might have been 2nd gear or might have been only 30mph, don't really remember as i don't look at the speedo, i have bad visual comprehension, i'm more the audio type, just listen to the whine. don't read between the lines guys. i just ment i was drifting the turn.

LD, what's double clutching? do you mean feathering the clutch. cause the car had only 1 clutch pedal.

I double clutch heal toe all my downshifts. It's where you get the tranny speed up with the revs of the engine to ensure a perfectly smooth engagement into lower gears. Say you're in 6th gear and push the cluth in, put the shifter level in neutral positon, release clutch, rev the motor, push the cluth in again and engage in 5th and release the clutch. It sounds complicated but its easy after getting used to. It's hard for me do practice this in cars with extreemly light flywheels as its very sensitive. The advantage is saving the syncros and making downshifts feel like butter. I can do it just as quickly as a regular heal-toe downshift as I've gotten so used to it.

Need I make a video?

yes, as i don't speak Venutian. video would help.
what you seem to be be describing sounds way to complicated for me. i can honestly say, i don't really know how i shift or work the clutch as i don't really analize it. just single clutch it i guess. yo man you young cats are just too damn complicated for me, your making feel kind of old.

Young, if you were old enough you'd remember the good old days where double clutching was manditory as trannys had no syncros. My guess, you're about 35-40 years young.

I'll make a video this weekend.

Driving forces are generally more jarring on the passenger, as opposed to the driver, because the passenger does not know what to expect next, whereas the driver knows what is coming. Thus, the same car will generally feel faster to a passenger than the driver.

I have frightened my share of passengers in my TT.

Ever heard of a fully synchronized tranny they have had them for 25-30 years, just heal and toe no need to double clutch you definitly can not do this any faster then the syncros are doing it already as well you are not doing the synchros any favor in saving wear and tear you could not drive your car hard enough to wear the synchros out ...talk facts then I will listen.....Like the great Mario Andretti said brakes stop the car why downshift

As for my passengers I am gentle on them I only drive fast when I am alone or with a friend who enjoys it and anyone who claims to be a car buff and gets scared from a street ride ought to have a ride with a real driver as I have on a few occassions then you will kiss the ground when you get out of the car...

Marc, you can argue with me all day long but I can double clutch my downshifts equally as fast as regular heal-toe. Its better for the tranny anyways. No need to put stress on the syncros. I'll make a video and show you the speed this weekend.

As I said, for cars with dual mass flywheels, its the only way to go.

Edit: I be I can shift faster double clutching cause I don't have to wait or force the car into year.

OK, short story... I had a very "cute" passenger, it was her first time at the track... We were at the Infineon Raceway, passed turn 2 going into 3... 2 GT3s in front of me started spinning right after 2, on each side of the track, generating a bunch of dusty smoke, throwing stones all over... My passenger started yelling and putting her hands in front of the windshield as she was going to stop something... I decided keep going through the cloud... About 5 minutes later, this other guy in a 944 got out of control at the end of the carousel, crossed the track sideways, and finished facing us in the wrong direction in the ditch...We finished the session, she couldn't even walk, she had to sit down for 15 minutes… and she kept saying to our friends: “I thought I was going to die…” Not too bad for her first track day!

A buddy of mine asked me to take his wife for a ride so he could convince her that he should get a turbo. I took her out on a straight country road and stopped. I then reved her up and took her through the first three gears ending up at about 105mph. As soon as the turbo lit in first she got this horrible look on her face and the blood appeared to run out of her head. When we finished she was very shaky. She told me there was no way she wanted her husband to have that much power to play with all the time. He still has not gotten a fast car (and he really wants one). I guess asking me to take her for a ride was not the best strategy!
