When replacing your lugs with our Titanium TiKORE ones we recommend to use the same OEM torque specs . Also we suggest to use an anti-seize lubricant on the threads when installing.

I had always been taught/read that you should NEVER use anti seize lube on lug bolts as they cause the torque reading to be artificially raised well beyond the stated value due to the lube. Wheel lug torque is always stated with clean, DRY components. Using lube risks damaging the wheel lug seats, possibly cracking the wheel. Not to mention the question are the Ti threads strong enough to withstand the additional torque applied when lubed and torqued to a recommended 90-100 ft/lbs? Just wonderin.

Cheers
Mikey

The fact to use anti-seize lubricant or not is a topic that is commonly skewed. But in the case for titanium, it is somewhat different. Titanium has a tendency to gall. With out the anti seize the clamping force would actually decrease when compared to the OEM bolt. By using the anti-seize with the bolts the correct clamping forced is then achieved. We have tested this to see the effects of clamping force with and without anti-seize.

We also ran some tests on one of our shop cars (E46 M3). This application calls for 88 ft/lbs on an M12x1.5 thread. Our goal on this test was to measure any permanent deformation of the bolts after many uses. We have taken the bolts on and off this car many times and the threads are still in excellent shape. We have always and will continue to recommend the OEM torque spec. With over 4,000 bolts out there we have yet to have a single return.

The threads here at TiKORE are rolled and not cut for superior strength and wear resistance. With rolled threads the grooves are compressed and formed, where as material is shaved off when cutting the threads. This creates the strongest possible thread.

The aerospace certified Titanium we use has a Yield Strength of 128,000psi, an Ultimate Tensile Strength of 138,000psi, a Shear Strength of 79,800psi, and Density of .160 lb/in^3.

Moreover, the titanium product we manufacture is 45% lighter than OEM, equivalent in strength to grade 8 steel, and has a high tolerance to corrosion.

We do not offer black finishes on our Titanium lugs at this time, hence the issue of the black coating wearing off after torqueing them. We are working on a black finishing that will be cost effective for our customers. We have had these anodized in black once before in a vacuum sealed environment but the cost just was not worth it. Besides our bright titanium finished lugs we offer a matte bead blasted finish.
