Blue 9, 74mm, Verses Red 6, stock >>The first beginning good runs
Blue 10,74mm, Verses Red 8,stock >> The middle runs, right after the first runs,,,heated up-lost power
The dealer first put on the screen Red 8 and Blue 9....I was happy ,then I compared my notes..

I think the gains are where they should be... Anyone expecting anything more must have been reading too much of butt dyno threads to justify the $1300 spent... We always knew that that it helps a little on top but only on HIGH HP cars... I have one since 2005 (IPD and TB). I do like the product nothing bad to say... The bigger question is what it would do on a stock k16 maybe with a flash...

THANKS JOHN..It makes sense now that I should have gone that route.
The AWE hoses are around 2.75"..
Protomotive modified the stock Y- pipe trunk to match the throttle body.

I really didnt feel any driving difference or seat of the pants on the street/X-way BUT when I left the shop it was also hotter and more humid out as compared to the few days before going there..
When I got home ,about 20+ miles away mostly X-way,the idle would creep up to a steady 1200 RPM so I brought it back...
So now I am going to watch the gas mileage, yes I am a Polish..lol, and if it takes a noticable hit >>I might put the stock stuff back on??
Hmmm.....Maybe my set-up might work with K24/20g's now...

If your rpms creeps up to 1200 at idle that means theres a leak- probably a vacuum leak. I see it often. Only way to check is a boost leak test.

if your idle creeps to 1200 you got a vac leak. since there were "in there" yesterday and problem start - you definetly got a vacuum leak !

John, you mentioned the plenum was modified...What did you do to it? it looks like you got the effect from the larger T-body but not the low end that the IPD gives.

I agree with Markski, great on big HP cars and I have always run one too.

plenum

I do have to say when the product first came out we (when I was at Speed Gallery) did over 30 of them in a few months and were involved when it was being developed. I have seen gains on 500hp cars as well. Mainly seen faster response and mid range due to the diverter. On 500hp cars with the 74mm set-up we saw a top end spike too. I can vouch for their posted dyno's.

Useful info! I'm wondering if the probable vacuum leak is also a boost leak and caused the loss of John's low-mid range. John did you datalog these runs?

Haha beat me to it. If you have a leak from after the install, those dyno runs are kinda useless. I did this project a few years ago, and had like 3 leaks after the first install.

You have a point,if it had the leak before the test..
But it didnt,it idled perfect..I ran it hard on the way home to see if I felt anything different in power..When I got off X-way by my house it had the idle problem..A steady higher idle is usually is not a bad enough vaccum leak to affect wide open power??
It was a small hose that popped off the aftermarket fitting..
When I get out of the firehouse tomorrow I will pick the car up and see which one it was..

Your ECU is super sensitive to these small leaks. The lines that are vacuum at idle and get pressurized under boost will cause boost inconstancy errors that do not trigger a CEL, but cause poor performance. (if they are leaking even slightly) Bigger leaks = CEL and bigger problems

I zip tied every one of them the last time my engine was out. I am a huge believer in pressure testing your engine, both after a mod,and I do mine at every oil change.

It only takes a few minutes and you would be surprised how many little things can leak. A pressure test kit, soapy water and a automotive stethoscope, will reveal a ton!

One of those 3 little vacuum hoses on the left front side of the plenum popped off..
Now it idles perfect like when I first left the shop.
Its cooler today and I drove home mostly on main roads, no X-way.
I feel the gas pedal is a little more sensitive, part throttle is crisper and only if I floor it at higher RPMS it feels like it hits harder.
