Painted Wheels for New Look

I admit that I was starting to get a little "bored" with the look of my car. There are now several black 996 Turbo's in town - some of which even have the same GT2 nose and rear wing. I wanted something to make my car look different but without ruining the appearance of the car. I decided to paint my Champion Motorsports wheels. Choosing a color was difficult. I started with the idea of going with the Porsche Noble Gold but it wasn't all that different from the color on the wheels already. I went through a range of golds and even thought about a wild viper green. I finally settled on a red. I admit to be worried about how it would look. The last thing I wanted was to be too "ricer" but took the leap of faith. In the end I think it worked out great. The color turned out better than I expected and gives a different look from different angles. The color "fires" when the wheels turn giving off bright flashes of red. The only downside is that they are hard to photograph as a flash makes them way brighter than they really are.

Personlly (and sure I'm not in the majority) I'm bored with the ultra-purist mindset here sometimes. There, I said it....I do love anything that expresses a new, fresh and sometimes bold idea. No, they dont alll look good, and some are awful but thankfully there are folks willing to expeiment. That shouldn't label attempts at something new as "ricer" looks. Just that youth tends to be more experimental and unorthodox by the old school. Hurray for doing something different! I like 'em!

Hate to say it but won't we call that "ricer" if it was on a Honda or a Mitsubishi?

I think colors look fine on a track car but personally I would leave the street car as it is.

Huge Aluminum spoilers, graphics on the car and different color wheels so what's next? Probably an option for a " PORSCHE' lettering on the rear window?

I am sorry if I came across rude but I don't like where Porsche is going with all this.

Funny that wheels don't look bad though

Do you have a closeup of the rear wheel? Are those RG5's? I have the same rims and have been thinking about painting them all year. I was going to go with seal gray center, and a matt black lip.

Thanks for the pics and good job.

Here is my opinion on painted wheels. 19" RPK-038 customized by seller. Lip: 4" inch rear, 2" inch front.

Sounds like an interesting color combination. I am pretty sure they ar RG5's but can't say for sure as the car came with them when I bought it. What sort of shot are you looking for? Straight on? Or 3/4's showing the lip? Closeup of the paintwork? I had them paint the barrels too.
