Turbo feels like a fat pig, what do I do about it?
...short of trading it for a GT3? After a year of driving, it's begining to feel more than a little ponderous. X73 suspension was a huge improvement, but it just isn't cutting it anymore.
The only two options that come to mind are weight reduction (it's scary how much livelier a stock C2 feels compared to this oinker) and suspension work, any other ideas? Will a set of Motons/JRZs/etc give me what I want?
Thanks.

Do you have a TT cabriolet. I recently had a 2004 996 C2 (wife drives) and a 2003 TT coupe with H&Rs and I like its feel much better than the C2 with stock suspension. Quicker, corners better, stops better and everything. Now I have a 2004 TT cabriolet and I agree its a pig, but my TT coupe was not.

Just trade it in for a GT3. The turbo will never be as agile and as light-feeling as a GT3. Plenty of GT3's are on the market these days, so don't spend alot of money on the turbo and then find out that you would have been better off with a GT3. Test-drive one and then make up your mind.

Reduce weight, increase horsepower, better suspension. There are a lot of things you can do to make it better. Depends on if you want RWD or AWD if you want a more dedicated track car or a car you can drive comfortably all the time and still go to the track.
For me the modded tt is the only way to go!

As has allready been said, yes, better suspension would help immensely. As would horsepower upgrades. DME upgrade and Evo intake are a very noticable kick in the pants. Lightwieght flywheel would also be a huge improvment.

I don't know how power would make the car feel like less of a pig. I don't think power is his concern.
I drove the TT and didn't like it for many of the reasons you listed. It feels like more of a GT in stock 996 form then a sports car. Anyways, go drive the GT3, make up your mind about it.

You can drop a good bit of weight rather easily:
- switch to GT3 seats
- remove rear seats and belts
- remove rear wiper
- remove spare tire/jack
- go with a light(er) exhaust if you can (your stock catalytic converters weigh a lot)
- lighter wheels
That should free up some weight.
Also, add in a good suspension setup and your car will now feel a bit more nimble.
