danny if you have to drop the tranny for a rebuild, call fabryce at gmg. while its out do the gt2 slave conversion and inspect the clutch at the same time. replace if needed. if it were mine i would also add the engine to the drop and have the coolant lines welded and you have effectively fixed a majority of the known failure points of the tt. dig deep im thinking about 11,000 for everything to be done at once but you shouldnt have to drop either the engine or trans for a very long time
im saving for these very issues now so when it happens (and it will) i have the cash to do it right once and be done with it.
trans rebuild needs to be done by a great not good tech. you dont want to have to do this twice

speaking of doing it twice, that also happened to me on pcna's dime. still a pita but it finally got fixed. it's all about the shims, which a porsche dealership tech neglected to do the first time.

The key is to have somebody that has done Porsche transmissions before and knows the drill. For them it's easy, they know what to look for and what to replace. I would not want a first timer.

Hey Steve. I had the slave done when I first bought the car. I am really hoping that the detent fixes the pop out but we will see. If I have to take the whole thing apart I will probably upgrade the clutch and do the coolant lines at the same time. I will keep everyone posted. I really appreciate all the info.

forgot to add do the trans mount while its out. one less thing to deal with.
from what i have read once this issue starts it wont get better only worse. you may be able to delay it for a while but concede that you will have to do a rebuild at some point sooner than you wanted.
did you do the full gt2 slave or the mod kit? mine was done 5,000 miles ago and they just replaced the oem parts with oem. i would like the full gt2 when i have to do it again
