100K miles.. and going STRONG

GTI's are excellent track cars, for what they are!
We have a few guys out here that keep up with some more modded and track oriented DE vehicles... of course the driver has a huge role in how well the car does!
Glad to see these 100k posts... I'm just shy of 70k, makes me feel better about taking it on a 1400 mile trip through the devil's highway next month!

as for your trip, 1400 miles was my average for about a month lately, i hated putting those kinds of miles on it, but it hasn't given me issues once. i'm sure the car will do fine. i marvel at the resilience of these cars. i drove the car yesterday at relatively high revs dodging traffic for 150 miles in 95-100 temps and not a complaint from the car. temp gauge right at 182.. never moved. but that's nothing like phx heat..
when you say lowered.. does the "sport package ( or whatever the hell the 3 options are in it leather sport seats/wheels etc ) include lowering springs? i know the wheels are .. is it 18? sports pkg? ugh.. now i have to learn a new toy car's quirks i'm out of line here and OT. sorry. i'm gonna need a gti forum

I have the 17" spoke wheels and it's lowered on Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs; that's aftermarket though. Huff (thinks that's the name) are 18s with holes in it. Then you have the Denver's, which are the same look but 17s.

thanks john! that should be easy at the rate i'm going.. though t2 @ 300k + is my idol and i have the solution to not blowing the mafs, which i think you said in another thread wasn't quite right.. i'm gonna lay off the rev limter

with the dsg i finally have an auto trans i can live with! it rev matches like the new 991s! though my old 335i was no slouch in that dept either. again, thanks all for the good wishes and info.

i saw the pics of yours.. brilliant! mines an 06 beater but clean but i'll end up with a similar setup. suspension and a tune..and that's IT! ( he says lol ). i had to remove some ricey aftermarket dlr's.

funny. i just told them to service the dsg and a major svc which isn't unlike our cars ( eg check this tighten that ) before i would close the deal on it. that dsg isn't a cheap flush either! but i must remember.. i'm coming from a pcar world, so it's all cheap by comparison. thx paul. picking it up tomorrow.
