I've done both the lowering springs/shocks combo and coilovers on my BMW. Unless you are a track rat, I can't say there is a big difference in performance. Where it does make a difference is ride quality. Lower it the same on both and the coilovers feel much nicer. My BMW is lower than the stock turbo but the ride is much better
