You can't fit anything in a Turbo. DD needs to be auto gearbox and decent amount of space.

having driven both and being a bimmer addict,

M6 is a heavy boat, its too big, too heavy.

M6 feels big when you drive it.

M6 has 1 piston calipers, 996 TT has 4 piston calipers. Stopping quality is not comparible.

996 TT 4 WD, M6 2 WD. 996 TT will grip and grip and grip.

996 TT engine is a proven engine, a robust engine. M6 aluminium engine may be prone to failures. Its strong but for me not comparable to 996 TT.

M6 interior is very plastic, a tad better than Vette's interior. 996 TT interior still looks sexier with the leathers.

Fuel consumption: M6 "drinks" fuel. 18 litres / 100 kilometers. Thats 400-450 km per tank. 996 TT drinks less.

At the end of the day, one is a P car, the other is a bimmer. Bigg differences.

I loved my M5. As a DD, I would pick the M5, draws less attention than a 996tt. Also, easier to get around with SMG in traffic than manual. I have never understood the M6. It is 100lbs lighter than the M5 and has half the room. It is too heavy to be a true sports car, unless you think the veyron and the bentley GT are sports cars...lol....But as a DD the M6 would be easier in traffic.

My TT is my daily driver - no problems here. If something big needs to be picked up, the wife can do it...

I don't think people pick the M6 because it is more reliable. For a daily driver, the M6 is just a more comfortable vehicle. It is more of a Grand Touring car vs. a sports car. Having SMG for traffic driving is also better than the rather heavy clutch in the 996TT.

That said, out of all the "super" cars, the 996TT is by far the most suited as a DD.

Exactly. The M6 is a cruiser. The Turbo is harsher for a DD. However, the Turbo is a great DD car if you don't mind a more cramped sports car feel. Also, the reliability factor favors the Turbo. There are 996TT's with over 200k miles and there is one running at 300k miles. I have a friend who DD's his summer and winter and he is at around 140k miles.

Bro, the interior of the m6 is way more luxurious than a 996tt, especially if you have full leather. As I said, owning both, for a DD, a big and comfortable cruiser the m6 is a better car. Stock for stock over 100 mph an m6 will give a 996tt a run for its money and will pull on inexperienced manual drivers.

Had 996tt as a daily loved it.

Had the E60 M5, was pretty pathetic to be honest and not really even a daily driver, the SMG is so annoying and its like driving a ticking time bomb waiting for the clutch to go or the entire SMG unit. Was lucky to get 300km per tank city driving with M mode off.
