Just wondering what's the best: Wheels for a 996 GT2
So, I've spent the last 3 hours looking through threads, but none seem to answer this question completely. I think this is primarily a result of making different size tires fit the GT2, which has 18x8.5 (40 offset) and 18x12 (45 offset) on the OEM wheels in addition to the relatively low production numbers of the vehicle.
In your opinion(s) what wheels look the best on the 996 GT2 and how do you make them fit properly if they aren't the OEM spec listed above?
Bring it! Pictures, and comments much appreciated.

Everybody has different opinions on wheels! Asking what's best is pretty much just a way to get 50 different answers!
Personally I'm a big fan of HRE and BBS. Both are very lightweight and strong. HRE offers a bunch of different styles that will fit the GT2. Some 7 mm spacers front and 15-18 mm rear will help a lot of them fit more flush in the fender wells.
The key question here is what's your budget? And are you looking for something as lightweight as possible, or is style the major goal?
If you want performance then 18" wheels are the obvious choice, but 19" wheels look better appearance-wise.

Great thoughts! I'm not concerned with the car performance. Although, it would be nice to keep it where it is, if possible. The style points are more along my line of thought, and any modifications to the wheels to make them look as good as possible on the car - as you mentioned in your spacer discussion.
My thoughts lean toward the 19 inch wheels. Personally, I like the GT2 RS wheels, but don't intend on spending the money to modify the car to a center lock. I also like the GT3 wheels but am not sure about compatibility.
I saw this thread and liked these wheels, but again would rather have 19s. This particular thread debates the size of the wheels on the car.

look at the forgestar wheels. i just ordered a set in the cf5 style. my tastes run to the 5 spoke but they make a nice mesh wheel and a 10 spoke. any width or et
they flow formed and very nicely priced. mine were 1380 shipped for an entire set. lightweight and strong.

On.this.same.subject.. Can anyone advise on offset in my particular case? I want to run a new set of wheels w a super agressive offset. I want the rim ALL the way to the edge of the fender. My worry is the hard tubing insixe the wheel well. See pic:
As you can.see there is already a tiny but of rubbing. Can.anyone recommend a.super agressive offset that will stop my slight rubbing and help me get a super agressive offset? Thanks all.
I will.be putting my HRE up for sale very soon and looking in to a new.set of ADV1 Track Function.

I'll be listing a set of HRE C21's - black center, polished lip. I ran them on GT2 with no spacer.
Also a set of BBS E88 wheels. No spacer in front. I ran a 7MM spacer in the back.
PM me if you want pics and a price before I put up sale ad.
