Engine Cleaning...only for those afflicted with OCD
Well.. after a year of hating the mess of baked on cosmoline I took Ken's (KPV) advice and tried OilFlo safety solvent. 3 hours later the passenger side is looking good! Still doesn't compare to Oak's, but I'm happy. Used nylon and brass brushes and just kept at it......If you aren't afflicted with OCD you just won't get it

I did something similar on my Jeep today, but to the suspension components. BTW, I have always noticed this on 996TT's why does the oil always bake on to the underside of the engine like that ? Where does it come from in the first place ? Turbo's ?

Dr. T,
BRAVO!!!
I did the side of the engine case on the passenger side as well. It took me 20 minutes and then I ran out of time. I used a rag. I will get back to it.
Did you let the Oil Flo sit for any period of time?
Did you wear gloves, safety glasses, etc?

I let it soak for a minute or so then went at it with the brushes. The engine was warm but not hot. Yeah....solvent safe gloves, safety glasses, good ventilation etc.. The fumes from this stuff seem pretty benign compared to other solvents. Works great and I don't think I killed any brain cells
