The one to the left of the cd cartridges. A long high pitch beep comes when I turn it on.

It is not a Porsche button....something aftermarket and I would agree with the above, likely a radar detector/jammer.

I have the same button but mine is for a backup sensor! The radar stuff is usually a **** style!

That side panel pops right off. Take a look in there and see if you can track down where the wires go.

My 996 is an 01, not sure if they had any MY changes but that's what the switch does in my car.
