How to know if your car has 18g's

My uncle just picked up a yellow 03 Porsche 911 Turbo X50.

How can we know if this car has an 18G upgrade ?

The more we look at the car the more we are finding out more and more that was done to it. The third owner does not know much about what was done. This is what we have figured out do far:

1. Unknown flash to 1 BAR
2. Modified stock exhaust being it is louder then stock
3. Modified stock air box (butcher job cutting it open)

The car runs Hard for what we know it has, but this thing pulls straight to red line without stopping!!

Even though I am a good bit faster then him, my upgraded K16Billet's don't even do that. I feel his car is a 122+trap car and was thinking that since it is running only 1BAR that the tune might be an old one and the MAYBE it is running old school non Billet 18G. I understand some may just think he should hang with me if he has 18G's, but if he is running an older Flash from 03-06 at 1BAR (vs my 1.3) and an old school 18G's I would not be surprised at the out come. (have videos I will post soon)

Do stock k24 with flash upgrade to 1 BAR pull straight with out slowing down to red line or would it have to be an 18G in there to do that?

It also has noticeably more lag then My K16Billet's as in ALOT more. I have a video that I will be posting with the difference in spool as we both did a 3rd gear pull from 2500rpm and WOW I pulled him MUCH harder then when we would run normally. I have an in car video of his car when I was 1/2 car ahead fully spooled and he was still lagging. Again we did this pull just to see the difference in the K24 vs K16.

Any suggestions?

BA

Take of the turbo, disassemble, measure the wheel diameter.

It's easy enough to do if you have 30 minutes to spare to take it off, measure it, and put it back on.

K16's run out of air on the top, even billets.

From my experience, K24's with a flash will pull hard and fall off a bit on the top end. When moving up to 1.3 bar, it's easy to feel.

K24/18's pull harder, noticeably more in the mid and top end versus standard K24's. Even at 1.4bar, mine feel strong up top.

I would think you could tell by pulling of the turbo inlet hose and look into the turbo inlet to see what the wheel looks like..
Also I know that a K24 turbo will not have the hit of power pulling from 4,000 to 5,000 as a K24/18 will..

HI Mike,,But it that TQ hit in that 4,000 to 5,000 range that makes a K24/18g that..
I was never in your car... I have been in many modied K24s including thats what I had originally..
Have you ever been in a K2/18g and felt that range or raced one from a roll on in that RPM range??
You do have very nice K24 package,,best I have seen..

thanks john! no i have not...... i believe what makes my car fast is the tweeked k24 tune from proto??? all i do know is a friend of mine with A28 did not start pilling away from me until about 145 .. until then, he wasn't a full car ahead of me... now I'm sure he will, he built his engine.. point is, its all about the tune and keeping the mods with in range of what you have.. to much at the sub 700hp is counter productive imo... either way, a stock tt is bad ***!!! it all about the smile you have when driving!!!!
