Newb: 02/996TT Greetings/Pics/QQs
Hi everyone,
Just picked up a 2002 996TT (non-X50) from a co-worker with 42K miles, black/black, manual, all service records, 2-owner, great condition, always garaged. Of course got a PPI done at a local Porsche dealer and got two thumbs up! This is my first Porsche and its still settling in that I actually own a 911 Turbo.
Just wanted to introduce myself, name is Steve, from Boston, live in New Hampshire. This is not going to be a daily driver (or commuter car), but it will be driven often.
I have been scouring this site for a few weeks now, absorbing tons of information and also developing a complex because some of you have some sick cars. This seems like a great community and I am psyched to join. Anway, I myself have the mod bug and after two weeks of ownership I have already started.
Done:
-rear wiper delete (pics taken before removal)
-removed wheels and refinished the corroded hubs with high-temp paint (and cleaned the inside of the wheels and calipers)
-bumper plugs all around
-silver hood crest
-aluminum Porsche foot pedals
-smoked LED third brake light (pics taken before install)
-full interior/exterior detail
-smoked clear sidemarkers
Soon:
-painted bumperettes
-non-smoker package
-PSS10's going in very soon
-exhaust tips refinished black chrome
-chrome/amber turn signal bulbs and LED driving light (still trying to decipher the correct bulb here, threads are confusing)
-window tint
Over the winter:
-GT2 front bumper
-PP Intake splitters
-19" wheels... trying to decide: HRE 792rs or 542r, ADV5, 360Forged Mesh 8 or Spec 12... there are endless options, but right now those are my favorites. I have time to decide as I will prob make purchase in the spring
Future (Performance upgrades):
-Agency Power exhaust
-ECU reflash
-still researching biggest power increase for $$, so we will see
So, a couple of quick questions:
1. Anyone here from MA or NH?
2. What percentage of 996TT owners on this forum convert to 2WD?
3. Are headlight covers taboo for 996TT owners? (not really considering these, but maybe a refinish like some have done here)
4. What is average gas milage for these cars (stock)? Doesn't matter, just wondering.
Thanks in advance for entertaining my newb questions!

Steve B Welcome and congrats on the purchase That is truly a clean looking turbo I would also get some springs or coilovers, depending on if you track it or not. Enjoy and can't wait to see what you do with this bad boy.

Nice introduction. Take it a step at a time and learn to drive it like it is suppose to be driven!

Hi Steve,
Congrats on the new car! We are located in the Manchester, NH area. You should do a search on SpeedTech Exhausts before you make any exhaust decisions and read our testimonials if you have a chance...
We can also bundle our exhaust with an EPL flash. These are clearly two of the best possible mods you could choose! Call, email or PM if you need any additional info and maybe we will see you at a PCA event next season.

Congrats. Nice upgrade wish list. The GT2 front end is $$$$ if done right. I wouldn't go to 2 wheel dive unless you plan to also do the GT2 uprights. PSS10 a good street choice but also consider rear dog bones and adjustable toe links depending on your drop expectations.

Congrats Steve. I was just over in Portsmouth lastnight. Good to see a local turbo in NH....that doesn't happen very much!
