Seems like a good deal if it was done correctly! They say the tranny is built and everything!

Second time I've seen this car. It was sold not too long ago by (?) Chicago motor cars. I called on another vehicle and could not get a straight answer from them and passed. Not a fact, just my personal experience.
Anyway, now it made its way to TX and is for sale...again.

Anyway, on paper a very interesting car to consider, definitely. If considering, I'd want an extremely comprehensive PPI THOROUGHLY done! Im guessing this car has been hammered in its short life. If it is solid, I agree it's a find at the eventual likely sales price.

Now who wants to buy mine so I can buy this one?

Edit: just found a post on here about this car from the original builder; POG. Search Raven.

I want to rebuild the tranny in mine to get more HP! I could sale my car and buy this for less than the price of the upgrade!

Ok.....Just got off the phone with the dealer and am going to have all the info he has on it sent to me tomorrow! Who in the San Antonio area could do a extremely thorough PPI on this for me?? I may pick this up and unload my current 996 TT when it arrives! One thing he told me is that it will throw a CEL if it is boosted hard do to over boost? Anyone heard of this before? Guy doesnt know a thing about Porsche's so I really need to have this thing looked at!

Thanks,
Troy

Troy, if you are going to buy a new car and don't NEED a tip, you should buy a 6 speed. BUT it's not as easy to sell a tip as it is a 6 Speed. Is your car in good running order right now? You should just upgrade your Tip with whomever is upgrading tips these days. IMO, you are buying a ton of problems with this car. Just read the part where it says they "de-tuned" it. That tells me that the tranny is not holding up to the power. Beware man.

I thought the exact same thing about being "Detuned" My car is completely sorted out with no problems! Only thing I need done is the coolant fittings and beef up the tranny! I think it would run a long time with no worries after that! The guy that bought that from Chicago motor cars spent 8K on maintenance to get everything up to par and then traded it to this dealer for a Corvette? You are probably right on passing on this!

I have been looking for a nice used low mile GT-R to have along with my 996 because of the tranny in those things and HP you can throw down! I broke my neck a while back and my left leg doesn't always cooperate with me so a DCT, SMG, or Auto shifter of some sort is a must for me now days! I had a built STI a couple years back and am just not quick enough on the manuals to be worth a sh#t plus I found I was always riding the clutch! I used to be one of the dudes always bashing people that bought tips and now require one! Lol!

Ah. That makes sense. Sorry to hear about your past accident. Those GTRs are a great platform too.

buddy of mine was thinking about that car and i also noticed the "detuned" comment.

all i want to know is who the fk builds a 800whp porsche and then detunes it to 600hp??

"detuned" or "needs to be retuned" are always raising red flags for me. detuned usually means we made big power but then couldnt figure out the issues that came with it and backed down, "needs retune" usually means the car is having problems and we dont know what they are LOL.

other then that it looks like a nice car...

Great platform, but pushed anything will break. My buddy who I drive with out at Miller, we both work with RaceCo out there for track support, has a tuned street GT-R, made close to 700 AWHP and he also bought the Cobb time attack GT-R fully built race car within 2 weeks of each other the trans in the race car went and then the motor blew in his street car, a 50K + event for both. You take a risk anytime you buy something that has been built to run hard cause it probably has. Both cars should be wicked fast again when they're back together.

There is an EVOMS shop in TX, but not sure where to San Antonio. It sounds like a lot of different hands are in this 6 year old build. While it could be a great car, anyone considering at this price range should be placing some large sums of cash in reserve when parts begin to fail. It is soooo tempting, as to replicate this with my car would be pointless stupid $, and I like instant gratification. But too many cooks have had their hand in this soup by now, and nothing less than a teardown type PPI would make me comfortable.

I agree! It is tempting for sure! There are some wicked fast 997 Tips out there but they are a different animal than the 996! I would love a 800+ HP 996 Tip for sure! The thing would be a beast on a roll!! After thinking it over one major problem with this car and I could have easily just bought a used 997 TT Tip or GT-R after repair cost! I need to quit looking on Ebay while drinking beers! Lol! This sh#t could cost me some dollars!
