Cracked Turbo twist- hmmm now what

Got in my car at airport two night ago at 2am and started to exit and car was driving a bit off thought it was me due to the lack of sleep. Pulled over and found a low tire. Found the nearest gas station only 1/2mile away and filled it up. Seemed to hold air so drove the 50miles home.

Flat again the next morning. Thought I picked up a nail so pulled the tire today and found this. Out some bubbly water and confirmed leaking leaking badly.

I have tracked with these wheels but have never hit anything (that I know of).

So will put my GT2 wheels in for now with track tires (Hankook TDs) until I figure out replacement plans. Either finding another rear twist or new wheel/tire combo.

I've had damage like that repaired by local wheel repair shops...you might look into it since it's not the face of the wheel (assuming you want to keep them).

Of course, a factory turbo twist isn't wildly expensive either, so I'm sure that buying one wouldn't break the bank. The problem of course will be to find a single wheel for sale (as opposed to a set of four). Good luck!

That's a bummer. Seems unusual that it would crack on the inside (unlikely to hit something there?).

Found a wheel repair place a few miles from my work so will bring it by and get their opinion. These won't be track wheels so maybe a weld will hold up. Few hundred bucks for repair still cheaper than a new set and the tires are in decent shape still.

Since used twists are plentiful on here, I would think that you could pick up a set for admittedly much more than a repair, but then sell the 3 remaining on eBay or here, and probably get close to neutral....my 2 cents

Honestly I would hate to buy more twists- so if I can't repair this one wheel I will sell the other three. My GT2s are also twists so would love to get something newer.

Keep you posted with repair or not.

a set of 4 should cost 700 bux or so.. That's what I paid and I stashed them away. For future use should the 19 inch tires cost skyrocket.

IMHO Replacing a center is one thing, but I would not drive on a cracked wheel that had been repaired by welding.

In the factory manual Porsche says none of these alloy wheels can be fixed if they require straightening or welding.

The OP should scrap the cracked wheel and buy a new or good condition replacement wheel.
