Drive Train Warning - Take to Maintenance

Ok Guys -

Dont flame me too bad if this is an idiot question... Getting on the highway today - I was in 3rd gear after getting thru some traffic and nailed it - the car pulled hard as usual - but then at as soon as I got 1.1 Bar and high RPMs, I had an issue. It felt like the tranny was stuttering - almost as if I had hit a rough patch of road - and traction control was engaging. Truly was a pretty rough and unbalanced type feel. Warning light in the dash popped up "Drive Train ... Take to maintenance facility" or something like that.

Well, the warning went away as I just drove cautiously. I took it back out a little bit ago and can definitely feel the "stutter" at high RPM and high boost.

Any ideas? Thought maybe clutch - but the clutch feels normal, no slipping under normal stress.

I am running an EPL tune with a Speedtech exhaust and cats. Car pulls very strong. Car/Clutch has only 20k on it.

Clutch? Bigger problems?

Pull the codes. Could be something as simple as a bad wheel speed sensor causing PSM to kick on.

It could be something really simple but birgppa stated I would get a reader and get the codes off of it, preferably without driving it anymore then you have too.

Yeah - it will be sitting in the garage. Need to buy a coder anyway - don't have one. A good shop here that I trust - but will be better to check the codes before I attempt to drive it anywhere - towing might be better option depending on what I learn.

Anyone know a good source for a code reader? I assume Durametric direct is best....

Is this one any good? Thats a heck of a lot cheaper the the Durametric... usually - that makes me think that you get what you pay for!

If you plan on keeping the Turbo for a while just go with the Durametric. It does a lot more than just read and clear codes. Being able to log multiple parameters at a time can be essential in diagnosing certain problems. Not to mention all the coding things you can do with the durametric.
