996 Turbo Inlet Pipe - Install time/price?

I am looking to pick up a set of (insert vendor here) - 996tt turbo inlet pipes.

I've decided to go with a pair of the aluminum pipes, but I was curious on what shops typically charge to install them. I want to make sure I'm not getting taken to town when I bring them in for install.

Thanks!

takes 10 minutes to install once you pay the 8 to 12 hrs to drop the engine out. install with the engine in is a major biatch and took me almost 2 weeks in my garage

So a typical shop might charge

16-24 hours of labor for an install?

8-12 / remove engine
0.25 / install intake
8-12 / reinstall engine

I got a quote from a reputable tuner who said:

Inlets are 849.00 plus the laboris 1440.00.

It may be smart to include that with another job. It may be best to do something like change all the water fitting, install a new clutch and do the pipes at the same time. The job will be expensive but a lot of the repetitive labor will be wrapped into 1 at that point.

Agree with the above statement. I'm planning on doing clutch and inlets at the same time.

Wait to do a clutch job, besides you might not be happy with the bang for the buck on the pipe job only.. LOL.

I'd also wait until clutch or coolant fittings.

Already did the clutch, shop charged me 6 hours of labor and didn't have to drop the engine.

I may replace the flywheel as I installed a used triple plate that had some rough spots. However, for my power level, it grips well. Just have to deal with chatter.

I should probably replace my coolant tank and do fittings before the summer hits here in AZ.

Reason I am looking into inlet pipes is I am hitting 430hp and 563ftlbs. It's a pretty huge difference gap between hp and tq, perhaps the inlet pipes are too restrictive. I figured I'd be up near 500hp with a k24/18 and 1.4bar, 100 octane.

Thanks!

I am speaking from my experience only with my 24/18gs at 1.3, 93 Oct., and adding them,,, didn't do much from stock ones..
The right exhaust made the best improvement for me.

Inlet pipes can be done with the engine in the car. Not easy, but it can be done. Definitely not worth doing just for that though. It will help with spool, but again..at what cost. You can easily get WAY over 500 wheel with 18g's and stock airbox and piping. I made almost 600whp with pump and meth with stock airbox, filter and piping.

I added intercoolers and piping and made about the same power at the same boost...so no real improvement. I didn't have enough wastegate to up the boost anymore. 1.3 was all I could get.

something doesnt add up. i dyno'd 490 rwhp /502 ft/lbs with stock oem k24 turbos stock intakes and headers with 3" exhaust and a crappy tune on 93 oct and 1 bar tune. with 24/18 you should be way past that

I suppose I am trying to find out where I am losing hp. Inlets were the next logical step for me.

I DIDN'T gain 'alot' of HP/TQ when I switched from K24s to K24/18gs with injectors, until I added intercoolers and a better exhaust..

Intercoolers are on my list, probably a better idea than inlets. I am still on stock I/C's. The 997GT2RS coolers are lookin' good!

My exhaust is a custom made exhaust, not sure who made it, was on the car when I got it. 100-cell cats.
