EasyCare warranty and 2nd gear pop up

I have an EasyCare extended warranty but I've been experiencing the dreaded 2nd gear pop up.

Has anyone here had to go through this with EasyCare?

I'm asking because so far, the Porsche dealer said he never heard of it (2nd gear pop up) and couldn't make it pop on their test drive. So they didn't want to make a claim...

Went to my local mechanic shop, guys knows about 2nd gear popup, but he doesn't want to claim because he says EasyCare will only want to cover for repairs and not a repaired box (rebuilt trans from Porsche is 10k$). He doesn't want to open the transmission and try to fix it himself so he prefers not to claim.

What to do now???

dealers often will act as if they have never heard of this all too common issue. it's their first line of defense against a warranty claim. they can't help themselves, they are intrinsically fraudulent. try another dealer and/or call gbox transmissions for some rebuild advice. you can live with the problem, but it won't go away.

I contacted GBox. They quoted me 3500$-4000$ to repair the gearbox. It sounds like a fair price. I believe it would be a permanent solution to this problem. However, I have a warranty and don't want to pay for the repair.

Now I need to have EasCare pay for that. That, it seems, will be the tough part. I will be contacting out of town dealers. Not fun.

When you goto the dealer don't tell them you have warranty. Tell them about the problem and find out about the fix. When they see dollar signs the second gear pop out will magically exist. When diagnosed, then you mention " oh I have something about easycare, does that help?" And go from there.

Even if they ask you if you have warranty say no, cause you have easycare and forgot temporarily.

another reason to try "another" dealership re possible warranty coverage is that the higher the volume dealer, the more likely they will have ongoing claims and experience dealing with "easy care" as that's one of the most well known/reliable after market warranty companies or plans. isn't that "fidelity"..? ( whatever ) large metro dealerships deal with them on a daily basis . this can/will accrue to your benefit if filing a claim while the car is at an authorized pcar dealership.

beyond that, i would go with the gbox rebuild and i'm sure you'll be fine, if not temporarily broke.

Find another indie mechanic willing to go to bat for you. My mechanic would charge people 50 bucks to jump through hoops with a warranty company, but he always won (so he claimed). Never had to find out.

It's a pretty painful process I found BMW dealers anyway very rarely wanted to put the effort in to get things covered.

Also do a search on easycare in this forum. I recall reading a thread where they did pay for this if I remember correctly.

Well long story short, EasyCare came through and approved the repair of the transmission. They change pretty much everything but the 4-5-6 gears.

I am supposed to get my car back tomorrow. I can't wait to see how it works! Anyone have had the 2nd gear pop up repaired? Any problems afterwards?
