Intake pipes worth while on 550whp car?

Will I gain much from inlet pipes with 24/18's?

depends on other mods too. i gained nothing from inlet pipes at 500whp level. i think 550 is where the gains really start to show, you definitely want inlet pipes for any hybrid turbo to perform best.

if turbo plenums take away lag, than fender intake will do more.. one might not see HP gains, but faster spool is what we all want.... if you have the itch, scratch it..

So ... turbo inlet pipes don't really make that much of a difference on 16K Billets?

So can I just cut off the driver side pipe and weld in a fitting? Just use soft pipes of my own design then? 1,000 is a bit much. It looks like I can build them for 1/4 of that.

if you have the engine out do it. i did mine with the engine in and it was a nasty job. weld the drivers side with a longer fitting and add the tubing. evoms has plastic some use flex some use aluminum. i had to remove the trans crash brace and the rear lifting eye to get my piping to fit properly. the rear part of the plenum isnt bolted down rather it sits on a standoff with a rubber bushing and the long part also has a rubber bushing and a bolt to secure it.

mine looks like the used a 2.5" piece of tubing and squeezed it to fit the plenum then welded it up

Not everyone can build and weld... when I had my first one it was $2195 from a board sponsor. Half that to get something hand made like this I don't think is too much... just saying... I been in your shoes so I know...

the hard piping I dont recommend... they in most cases rub and seen plenty of products that do the same- all due to improper installation....

Marski,

I see on your site that you sell a hard pipe set and a bendable tubing inlet set.

How hard is it to install the bendable tubing inlet set with the engine still in the car?

If it can be done is how long does one need to do the install?

Thanks

Bobby Ali

We ran 911tuning inlet pipes on 3 cars in my area !
With big great success !! Billet K16 , K24/18G and a3076 !

All the setups , the turbos became very very fast in spool !

You should do it bro

It depends what you want - A good plenum is designed from the ground up and replaces the cast factory splitter, as well, with quality, long term reliabilty tested components - like the one pictured below. This is not an area to fool around or experiment with since a breach of the piping means your turbos and motor will be injesting sand and debris. Because of the location of the pipes behind the motor and under the car, you will probably not know it until it's too late...

IMO, if you are going to do this upgrade, do it completely and do it right - it is not worth cutting corners. Our plenum/pipe combination eliminates all factory bottlenecks and keeps a smooth, uniform high flow tube for the entire length of the intake track. Our high density plastic piping is virtually indestructable for long term reliabilty - it has lasted 100,000 miles of spirited driving on our test car with no signs of wear or wearing through at any point, which speaks volumes for this design. We also offer a modified OEM plenum design with the hard piping and it is less expensive, but I do not recommend it when tackling the job of upgrading your plenum. IMO, if you are going to increase the flow of the intake plenum, do it fully and be done with this area...
