Lw battery vs stock battery

I was wondering what real life issues I might run into with running this battery over stock:Braille B2618. 18.5lbs vs 57lbs stock

Width 4.0" 4.0" 3.5" 5.2"
Height 6.1" 6.1" 6.3" 6.8"
Weight 17Ibs 17Ibs 18.5Ibs 21Ibs
Wnty 2 yr 2 yr 2 yr 2 yr

In the winter or if my car will be parked more then 2weeks, I will hook my car up to a Battery Tender.

Anyone with real world experience with the switch to a LW battery?

Thanks

Bobby Ali

That Odyssey PC925 is about the smallest I'd go for a lightweight battery. I've used some that were ~15 lbs, and eventually, they lose the ability to hold much of a charge and you have to keep them battery tended all the time, which is a hassle.

I switched to a battery similar to the 925 and it's been far better.

Keep in mind though that our cars already have a heavy rear weight bias... I'd figure out a way to lose some weight in the rear before going with a lightweight battery... an aftermarket exhaust should do nicely.

I agree 100%... only reason for a light battery was to lower a bit the center of gravity, but I still wanted to retain a battery that has capacity of DD that met my needs ... hence the 925.

I just thought of this so haven't looked at my car to see if it seems feasible, but has anybody relocated the battery to where the spare tire normally lives for just this purpose?

Way back when, I used a Deka...11lbs. Always left it parked with a battery tender. The ONLY issue I ever had was driving at night for extended periods with the lights on. I would notice them getting dim and my volts gauge would start to dip. Never drove much at night, so never looked into it. Not sure if anyone else ever noticed this.

I think I'd go with the 3121 if I were you. 5 more Ah capacity and it's $30 cheaper, while only weighing 2.5 lbs more.

I concur...get the most aH you can get, even if it sacrifices a pound or two...you're still losing over 30lbs or more...
