Project 230mph+ (Texas Mile)
My last outing at the Texas Mile resulted in a personal record of 212.4MPH. I decided that I would try to beat my PB. Of course, since Colby went 224.8 in October, I was motivated to beat that. BUT, I wanted to address a couple major issues with my car. First, heat soak was killing my power on longer pulls like at TI and the Texas Mile. And Second, I just needed MORE POWA!
So I've been making some adjustments to the car over the past couple months. We added the new HTA3586 with the .82 housings form Forced Performance. Beautiful turbos!
While we were in there we added some new turbo blankets. We had to drop the oil tanks a bit to so they would fit over the turbos. And we also used a heat resistant carbon liner in the wheel wells.
To hold the additional power, we also added the new ERP triple carbon clutch with the LWFW. This clutch is amazing. There is no "on/off" like the Carbonetics carbon/steel clutch has. 22lbs compared to the 29lbs of the Carbonetics.
To further address the heat, we added a Ceramic Insulating Paint Additive to Porsche Polar Silver and painted the Y pipe and intercooler pipes.
We also painted the NOS bottles to match. The NOS bottles are for the custom intercooler chiller system. (more on that later)
To keep engine bay and ambient heat from the intercoolers, we also added a heat reflective gold foil.
We strapped it to the dyno and made a couple test pulls on waste gates only.
711HP. We logged and Todd Knighton is working on a new tune.
We also did some "before" pulls. HorsePower on Waste gates was 525HP

Stay tuned....

Looks great! I'd love to see how you modified the oil tanks to accept the new flange on the turbos

I can not wait to hear how all the Porsche guys do and I look forward to reading some of your stories about your run.
Maybe you guys can have a few grudge matches as I would love to hear hear how you like the look of the back of Tims car.

Unfortunately there is no side by side racing at the Texas Mile! We will have to compare trap speeds.
