If your car is chirping, it means one of the following is open:
passenger door
frunk lid
engine lid
center console, or
glove box

If you double click the remote you simply disable the infrared. Now if there is an argument the infrared uses power and disabling it will use less power, I suppose that could be made.
that's it exactly. but there is a "sleep" mode apparently for the key fobs if NOT the car! after some days they will go to sleep. inserting the key into the door wakes them up after a push of the unlock button.

a double click of the remote and ONE chirp confirms you have DE activated the interior alarm ( which again,.. i thought put it to "sleep" meaning not "awake" eg seeking an infrared signal ). however, two chirps indicates a fault with the central locking or alarm system.

while one chirp, as we agree, simply indicates the console/gbox or trunk is open. the "sleep" or standby mode is so the car isn't always ON and seeking an infrared signal from the keyfob. that's the best i could do just now.. but it beats the work i should quite possibly be doing. lol

I think the sleep you're referring to is when you lock the car and don't unlock for 5 days, the remote is disabled and you have to use the key to unlock the car. I believe the car ignores the remotes after that period of time, not sure why.

i guess thats my argument then. if i only click it once and my car sets for a week it will kill the battery. if i double click it i can go a week and the car will start.
seems i got the term "sleep mode" from here
