GT2 Slave Conversion Opinion
#4
pros -
-no more hydraulic clutch assist
-no more failing stock slave
-no pentosin through slave
-feel the engagement point
-engagement point doesn't move
-clutch is very consistent
cons -
-some people want the grandma clutch pedal, by this i mean the pedal effort is increased since the hydraulic assist is removed. Took me 2 minutes to get used to it, even in stop and go traffic it's fine. However, this has bothered some.

Some people sell the brackets to do the conversion yourself, but you'll also need the lines and some additional parts.
This is the kit I used: http://sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=162
The board has a DIY somewhere, I've seen it.
It's worth the extra cost, I am really happy with it.

I JUST finished installing the EVOMS kit! wow it was a pretty hard install despite the DIY guides out there. I haven't tried it yet since i'd wake the neighborhood up but can't wait to try it in the morning.

HOLY $HIT!! best mod yet!! I have a Clutchmasters Stage 3 Clutch which was about to get the boot b/c of a very high engagement point and either on/off which would lead to a lot of over-revs. With the EVOMS GT2 Slave kit the clutch is now very predictable and engages in the middle like stock!
If anyone is on the fence about this... DO IT!! I went w/ the EVOMS kit b/c it is came with all the correct parts such as the hydraulic line which was came with a predrilled fitting right into the slave making it a simple screw and you are done. No mickey mousing around with used lines or stock lines that don't give enough slack. It also comes w/ the correct screws and fittings to block off the unused lines.
I did this in my garage and it took me about 12 hours vs. the quoted 7-8 hours but I learned a lot, went slow, quadruple checked and did some cleaning while I was under there.
Good luck!

Great mod. I had this done last fall. After much discussion with a number of folks, instead of using the bracket method, I opted to have the conversion done just like on a factory GT2 using all OEM GT2 parts with the GT2 slave installed on the drivers side factory location of the gearbox. We also removed all the old hydraulic lines from the car instead of blocking them off and leaving them in place. One of the best mods you can do.

There is a very good DIY that a member put together here:

It's for a 997TT, but very similar to a 996.
