Body shop recommendation
Can anyone recommend a good body shop in upstate NY or northern PA? As some of you may know my car was smacked last week. The other driver's insurance is covering it and I want this car perfect. I was considering taking it to wyoming valley motors in PA. Any other recommendations? I'm located in Binghamton NY.

If I could offer some advice...........find out what is the Porsche Certified body shop in your area and ONLY go there.
I'm in Georgia and we have Jim Ellis in Atlanta. I sent my car over 1.5hrs away there because I wanted to make sure it was the best I could possibly get.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I believe there are only a handful of Porsche approved body shops in the country. There are are few Porsche specialist body shops that are not Porsche approved. I recommend visiting the shop and ask about the spray booths and baking temperatures so you can be the judge. Here's my advice since I've been researching body shops for a while...
- Find a shop that sprays glasurit or "glasso" as some people call it. Make it clear you want a flat paint job with no fish eye or orange peel and you want a deep clearcoat. Factory clearcoats tend to be thin. Depending on how extensive the damage is, if you can get a discount on a full respray, go for it. 996tt are fairly old and so is the paint so if one area was painted, it would have to be dulled out to match the surrounding areas. If you think about it, a 996tt is a fairly small car so most likely adjacent panels have to be painted to be blended well.
- Find a shop that uses a car bench like celete or car-o-liner.
- Insist on having the windows removed before having the car sprayed. If not, the paint will peel eventually.
