KW V3 & suspension upgrades impressions!

I pick up up my car a little over a week ago from having some suspension & brake upgrades. I had the following installed:

KW V3, RSS toe links, Tarret front drop links, GT2 alignment, RS SS brake lines, Motul RBF660, GT3 Brake ducts, 4 Zimmermann rotors and Pagid yellow all around

I told everyone that I am happy the way my car handles (down low, being high speeds sweepers I had a "wobble side to side & was told it was my 19's.) with just H&R front&rear sways and the only reason I am doing coilovers is to lower the vehicle. Well lets just say I do not know how I used to drive my car before, compared to the way this car feels now!!!!
After I installed my H&R sways there were roads that I would just cringed at that I didn't even notice, as I will feel every filling in the road and broken pavement. Now with the KW V3 the car is LOWERED 1.6" front and 1" rear and the car feels more composed on those same roads to a point, I don't even notice.

The car feels like a whole new machine! I was running a STG2 C63 and at about 220km there was a huge dip in the road that I didn't notice. That sudden dip in the road would of made me get off the throttle after the car would of been unsettled as the rear end would of stepped out badly and would of %100 have the tires lose contact with the road (wheels off the ground) and get air. With the KW's it just sucked me down in the dip and the car just felt planted!! I also was running a modded 13 GTR and he punched it on a merge to another highway. I would never of had the confidence with the power I am making to floor it mid high sweeper turn, but not only did I do that as I made me way around the GTR at about 200km in the turn same thing there was a drastic elevations change (construction?) and the car in mid turn, under full throttle, what I FELT was not to much adhesion, just sucked in to the elevation change instead of the above past experience!! If feels as if the car is connected to rails.

I was shocked at the compression attributes, but the rebound is what really set me off as well (how quickly the suspension can move to down wards!)

THIS IS THE WAY A 911 SHOULD FEEL!!

Confident, smooth, glued, planted, controlled, predictable!

Thanks
Bobby Ali

I have my KWv3 set up similar to yours w a corner balance and alignment done by a specialist. The cars ride is exactly as you describe....even with 345 wide tire on a 20" rim.

Sounds great. I'm curious though. You didn't note any change in your LCAs to adjustable type. With the lower stance, don't you need to change LCAs also? I'm asking because I'm about to do the same (well, similar) set up, and have been told the LCAs are a necessity to get a proper alignment to avoid eating tires.
Anyone wish to chime in? I know this has been discussed on many other threads.
Thanks!

My 996TT w/ KW V3s needed LCAs in the front to get the camber proper.

I bought KW V3's from vivid but have not installed them yet. I want to do this suspension thing once and be done with it. This is my daily driver and will rarely see the track.

What else do I need to not have any camber/alignment/driveability issues?
LCA's, Sways, Dogbones, Droplinks? It's making my head spin!!

Depends on how much you drop it. I stayed inside the range of Turbo ride heights. If you want to get closer to GT2 from what I understand you will need more suspension parts, I think to get the rear toe in check.

So at near stock ride height, you have no problems with camber/toe? Would you mind posting a pic of your wheel gap with your 19's?

How would you rate your suspension on a scale of 1-10 (10 being awesome!)?

Thanks

I am at 138mm Front/ 153mm Rear which is about the Euro spec Turbo height. US specs are higher.

Overall, I am very happy with the coilovers. I installed mine just a few weeks ago. I got an alignment then played around with tire pressures to get the right amount of grip and balance. As of now my rebound and compression are still on the out of the box recommended by KW settings. I was going to play around with those last weekend but my MAF flaked out so this upcoming weekend I will play with that.

This is where I found the KW's to really shine: My favorite road to play on is full of hair pins and tight curves. Part way into each of many of these turns there is a seem or bump of some sort. With the old suspension I had to be read because it would make the rear end uncomposed for a second. The KW's, however, just gobble that bump up. Don't get me wrong, I know I've gone over the bump but the car stays absolutely planted. For a rating I'd give it a 9 because I am sure there is some room for improvement. For the track I could see how these wouldn't be enough but for the street they are awesome.
