Car runs too rich; cats were melted; tuner says injectors may be the fault?
Could I please get a quick second opinion.
Car was tuned in dyno by a well known tuner. K24/18g, injectors, ic's etc.
I wanted a safe smooth tune and that I got.
Now, a year later, the racing cats (Speedtech) were melted during extensive track driving, so I believe the engine runs too rich and there was fuel exploding in cats?
The ECU tuner says the injectors (Bosch Motorsport from EPL (but EPL is not the tuner)) are maybe not correctly fitted (as they were installed in another shop, and not by this tuner) and he says they must be checked before any retune. Can this be possible?
For my eyes, this looks like the ECU tune is the reason of the fault, and only a retune is needed without need of dropping the engine for checking the injectors?
What are your thoughts on this? Thanks a lot. I will in any case check the injectors but just wondering if it will be unnecessary work...

Misfire will send all the fuel out to be processed by the cat, a hefty job. If the car is too rich your also sending a lot of I burnt fuel to the cats.
What are your AFRs at wot? If its really rich (9-10:1) it may be possible that's enough to melt them.
Excessive heat in the cats are to blame. So was it egt, misfire, afr? You have to start checking. I don't see how incorrect installation of the injectors could be to blame. If they are leaking badly and washing out a cylinder and getting spit out on the cat that could do it. Bit of a long shot tho.

get a durametric cable and log the car- check for misfires too.... simple...
a pressure test would show any leaks at the injectors..
