Exhaust tip clamp - bolt size?

I went to re-install one of my exhaust tips and noticed the thread inside is stripped; guessing it was tightened too hard when it was previous installed

So, I guess I'll have to re-tap it one size bigger so I can fit a new bolt. Now, I have never done this before; what would be one size up from the stock size?? Anyone know?

Thanks for any help!

Measure the bolt that comes out. You may be able to chase the threads if its not bad. Do you have tap set? If not get one.

I think it is 8mm but I don't have anything to measure it accurately. I brought it into work; we may have a tap set here. I'll report back in case anyone else runs into this issue.

I do know it is an odd ball thread count/pitch.. I will look at my tips later and take it out.

Thanks! Retapped for 8x1.25, so I'm guessing stock is maybe 6-7x1.25?

Why would tips change the exhaust tone, and why would eisenmann sound any different if the design is identical?
