price check on my 996tt?

F1 crazydriver, you're absolutely right. But it applies to the buyer who knows all the details of the upgrades, and how the car has been cared for, tracked and maintained. A lot of question marks when you don't know the seller. People and dealers know they're taking a change when buying an upgraded car. Also depends on the kind of upgrades (cosmetic, add-ons or internal). Best to buy from a long time 6speed on line member !!!!
But, please tell you friend to post some pics. We might be interested.

Okay back on topic, and this is my rant for the day.
It really ticks me off, that when people are looking for a used car to get into, and someone is looking into a modified car, that the "buyer" goes and says, " well it does not add value to the car " ... BS, you are looking at it because for every mod $ i have thrown at it you are getting it for 1/10th of the value, if not free. And if the car you end up purchasing for the same price, you will then have to go ahead and spend that money in doing those identical mods, then you will feel like a total dumbo not buying the one that was probably modified.
So in my book yes a probably modded car is worth more. That said I have seen Joes car at an autocross event a few years ago, and it looked like a gem !

is a modded car worth more? probably but it goes to a certain seller where a stock car appeals to more people.
trade in a modded car and a stock at a porsche dealer and see which brings more money

i love the deviated stitching! wish mine had it and that was actually a thought of buying the stock car because of it. in the end the mods won out!

I know, right? But I was going for a cabrio from the start, and for me, over the top mods will never be in the cards for a cabrio - whereas the little details made all the difference. The only other '04/'05 Speed Yellow TC I could find in the US was waaaay too heavily modded for my liking. And although I wonder what the owner paid for them all, I'm VERY glad I chose the car I did.

Edit: Oooh look, they chopped a few grand off the ask. Still... nuh-uh.

If I wanted to mod a car I would buy one finished as close as possible to my goal as mods are wasted money in most if not all cases in resale. In my younger years I modded all my cars even my 1972 Opel GT lol and lost a ton of money. I realize most guys on here do not care as money is not an issue.I'm into a semi restoration on my circa 1700s log home with 1850 stick built addition so that's my new waste of money lol. That said my stock car is more than enough performance for me and while I know no one here agrees but a clean 996tt will be a rare occurrence in thirty years as they are mostly ignored modded and beat.

My '03 is loaded to the gills with expensive extras EXCEPT heated seats. How someone
could order lumbar support (left and right), carbon fiber interior dressings, etc. and
not include bun warmers amazes me.
Until I got the turbo i thought when someone mentioned "deviated" I only thought that
applied to the septum not seat belt stitching. And, while I'm on a rant, Porsche would
have to pay me to imprint their logo on my seat back.
