Difficulty Shifting Into Reverse w/Porsche SSK?
I have the Porsche short shift kit intalled in my car. It is sometimes difficult to shift into reverse. Is this normal?
If I recall there is a tool you can purchase from the dealer which will align and properly adjust the 2 shifter cables. Anybody know the part number? Will this help?
TIA,
Adam

No, this is not normal. It does sound as though the install was not done properly. There are several adjustments that can be made during install. I do not think the tool you refer to part #000 721 961 90 will actually help (It does not work with anything but the standard shifter).

O.K. Thanks guys for you help and the link.
I don't think the clutch is going as the car only has about 22,000 miles in the odometer and otherwise drives and engages great.
I was not aware the part was only for the OEM shifter. Maybe I should purchase the part, resinstall the OEM and adjust everything. My Porsche SSK came installed with the black plastic piece so I only need to remove the unit as a whole. Do you think this is a good idea?
Thanks again,
Adam

Yeah, I installed it. It was real easy. Next time I bring it in for an oil change I'll have them look at it. I use an independent car shop, not a P-car dealer. Funny thing is it only happens intermittenly.
I can't recall, what are the functions of the 2 cables? Is one for reverse?
Thanks,
Adam
