Just noticed a Top Gear episode will air on the discovery channel at 10P (PST, DirecTV). Looks like the SLR will be featured as well as a MBZ G ride and a $3,000 porsche?

Gotta say, that was one of the most entertaining episodes that I've seen... not necessarily in terms of automotive content, but entertainment value... lol...

I fell asleep. Wasn't that amused after the SLR

Then they compare a SLR to a GT3RS, what about the CGT?
dollar for dollar comparasion would have been nice

I wasn't expecting to watch the discount-Porsche segment at all... but, it ended up being very entertaining!

LOL... I hope you didn't think that I meant 944's were discount-Porsches... I'd never think such. In fact, one of my early fav memories of Porsche was back in the 80's when Porsche ran a commercial with the 944 drifting in slo-mo across the screen, with the song "School's Out For the Summer..." playing in the background! That commercial stuck in my head for years!

The point of the episode was for the Clarkson and company to each spend $2800 on a Porsche, and to modify it with whatever change they had. Clarkson blew the entire wad on a busted 928, and the results were too funny.. especially the contest where they had to lay the longest patch! The other two guys bought a 924 and 944. The 924 was in the lead until the very last "challenge".... you've gotta see it.

Ditto that this is the most interesting episode yet. Better than a bobsled comparison.

You can't take the show seriously. Their comparison is funny and entertaining at best. They like to compare apples to oranges just to get people's attention. They always flog and trash their cars though! SLR was no exception. I would like to see them doing doughnuts with Enzo soon.

This one was great, but I think the best comparo was the Lotus Exise against the Apache. The Murci agains the Evo was good too. And the segment on the Konneggsigg (sp?) was just great...

I have that commercial on my computer at home, I will post it up in a day or two when I find it.

Don't worry I dont take offense to people calling 924/944 series cheap. I just have to laugh at the show cause my car cost me $2800 (although if the seller knew the condition of the car he wouldnt have let it go for that cheap). Besides in so cal the 944 is rarer then a 996tt.

The exhaust sound of the SLR is unreal. Sounds like a straffing airplane !

That was funny one. My wife and kids were even laughing during the $ 3,000 Porsche episode.
