E85 / Proefi 996TT

Finishing up a pretty involved build. E85 conversion, ProEfi em, Tial 3073s,

3.8 P&Cs, 997 GT2 main shaft w/ 1st-3rd gears and a complete custom

exhaust -intake setup and a grocery list of supporting mods and weight

reduction. The car weighs just a hair over 3000 lbs and were looking for

about 800 hp at the wheels. The car has a full carpeted interior with a/c

and a nice aftermarket sound system with bluetooth! Other than the cabin

being a little louder, not much has been sacrificed in the way of comfort.

I wanted to post a pic of the fuel system. Fred is a perfectionist and you

won't hear me complaining about his ocd!

Sounds awesome! What did you do for shedding all the weight? I'm guessing sound insulation since you mentioned it being louder in the cabin. That, or all the parts you upgraded weight less than the stock parts? That fuel system looks very well done to say the least.

I was happy I finally did a dyno tune, plenum, exhaust, and throttle body scratching my itch. Then I read this and realize you're double my HP. That's unreal. Huge kudos to you
With Cali crappy 91 octane I'm not sure I can do a ton better without converting to E85 but there's so few fueling stations here.

The weight loss thread was a big help. Tool kit / spare, lw battery, rwd

conversion, aftermarket exhaust headers, OZ wheels, rear seats etc.. and

ozite carpet with paper board molding.

When the erp came in, we just stared at it for a while. It is a work of art.

And it's about half the weight of the stock setup.

I gotta get a big hp axle before we go to Clayton bro! or at least a spare lol

just remember that the axle is the mechanical fuse. if you beef it up then the stress will go to the next weakest link most likely the trans mainshaft. beef the trans with the proper metal before jacking up the axles to 1000 hp status

look at the threads that tim and the others have posted. they run the driveshaft shop axles and have busted the trans during the power builds. power always searches for the weak link and exposes it at the first chance it gets!

2150cc injectors and custom rails. Fred passed on the crimp style fittings

and went with the threaded type and welded those on the rail. He also

configured the return lines so as to avoid the problem of air in the lines.

Yep, it's a radium setup with mostly aeromotive / fuel lab filters, lines and

fittings.

We're using a fuel lab adjustable fpr but found out there's a fair amount of

reported failures with that unit but it''s easily accessible from the engine bay

The ProEfi is supposed to really shine with e85 and we're excited to see

this all come together. Fred used Prodigies setup as a template and I

wanted to thank him for taking the time to put that thread together and

for answering Freds questions in a timely fashion.

Sam ( sambott ) was in charge of gathering info and parts and he is the

easiest most helpful guy to deal with! He knows everybody and he is

a real professional! I can't thank him enough!

There may be more e85 stations than you think. Do a google search for

your area. There's gonna be more in the next year or so.

I appreciate the kudos but I'm just writing the checks lol Fred deserves

the accolades. He's a Porsche gold master tech and he has a strong

creative flair. He's been wrenching on 996 turbos for 13 years and he

knows them inside and out.
