Same here. I'm about to get my third 996tt soon.

Yeah that is the thing the individual LED look is starting to look really dated to me now!

 

^ true but still an improvement over these old stockers. if i want flickering filaments i'd rather be driving my 6 volt triumph lol

maybe they'll surprise us with a 991 light saber strip i said it before, i'll say it again. waiting on led 996t tails is akin to waiting on godot.

OK, I finally got some news from the factory... The latest word is - the samples are prepared and they will show them to us "shortly". I'm not sure what "shortly" means, but it looks like they are just about here. Put those pitchforks away and your torches out - this is going to happen.

 

996 with LED tails makes it look like a ricer, stock lights look best imo.

 

So I should not start chanting "KILL SLIDER KILL KILL KILL"

 

LED's alone do not automatically provoke an association with a "ricer" look. If they are tastefully done they can definitely look better than stock. The ones that are available for earlier 997's and 996NB cars look great and help update the look of the rear end considerably.
Anything can look bad if poorly executed and we will "shortly" see if these fall into that category.

Thanks for the update, Slider. Your multi-year perseverance on this project is commendable and will benefit all of us who are looking for updated rear ends (and really, who isn't?).

 

Has anyone ever thought about putting this thing on Kickstarter?

Just put a 200k goal and take payments and donations upfront and we can gt this moving fast.

It's hard to convince the factory to finance something based on list of nicknames on a forum.

Throw some cash on the table and we can have LED lights soon.
