LED Tail Lights - Status Update

+1. No idea what 991 design even means? It's an entirely different shape
That said, props to Slider for keeping this alive!

That's what I was saying about having to fill in the gaping hole left when we remove our tail-lights... The 991 version is quite a bit slimmer - I don't see how it could work.

First off, thank you to slider for taking the lead on this.
may be by 991 "look", they meant pattern by which LED's illuminate brakes on or fact that the 911 lens are almost entirely red color.
But do agree such a significant design change would indicate little or no commitments by the manufacturer thus far. Since there's already NB versions available, the biggest hurdle should be the mold... Do they have a pair of donor lights?
997 'ring'
991 'horizontal line'
couple aftermarket LED styles for NB 996:
"997 style"
"996 style"

Maybe I'm old fashion but, I like the 996 style as they fit the body lines. Also, I really don't want full on "red" lights(on or off) all the time. Clear would be best as that way people can keep them clear or tint them to their liking.

I just got an update from the factory - they are asking if we prefer the new "light bars" or individual LEDs. I guess that's where the question of the 991 look came from. I asked for some examples for us to look at so we can see what they mean...

2nd'g "light bar" style goes better with the led 3rd tail, for those of us that have it.
good to hear they are communicating with you slider. this is one long and joyless wait, but pts to you for perservering.
to me, 991 wouldn't look right at all on 996. if its that "narrow" lamp/lens look. the light bar straight across might be ok? but can we say disproportionate? but maybe i'm missing something here.

I'm definitely in for the 997 "ring" style leds. I think the 991 style lights look great ... on 991s. However, the 991s have a lower rear end, so with our big butts, the 991 light design won't look as good.
