IMHO - I think a tail light color should "blend" in with the car. That being said, I think a light with a lot of red looks fine on a car with color but, white cars, red sticks out like a sore thumb. Clear/smoked are the best.

Maybe pic a style and photo shop them on a few different colored cars and not just yellow.

ps - thanks for taking the time to photoshop in the first place. they look good.

Why are we thinking straying from OEM? ... I don't think the majority of people want "smoked" lights or to make their car look like something its def not (a 991) why not just keep it simple and mimic an OEM pattern? Either the newer OEM design or the same OEM 996TT design w/ LEDs. A group vote would take care of that option... hell, throw the wacky new options in the mix and take a vote just for piece of mind.

most of us want something OEM-looking (not smoked, etc). unless you have some mad photoshop skills and can come up with something better, it seems that yellow #4 is the most OEM/997.2 like.

People who want smoked can tint them afterwards. For the rest of us, we cant 'untint' them so smoked doesn't make much sense. Personally I'd be fine with 3 or 4 or the two on the ends that ssmugen posted, not the center two as too much clear in the lights makes it look tacky and ricey.

The fine print on those lights you just linked to:

.LED tailights for Porsche 911 Carrera, S, Coupe, Sedan type 996 of year 1996 by early 2006
. not Carrera 4S, Turbo, GT2

All of the aftermarket lights currently on the market fit narrow body 996s only.

Agreed! A OEM 996 design is good - just with LEDs.

we all know these are only currently available on the NB, but why not just recreate this 997.2 design for the WB? ie, why are we trying to reinvent the wheel with something new (yellow gt2 #4)? it won't get any more OEM-esque than this...

maybe we can even recruit dectane to make these for us?

How hard is it for a company that makes the LEDs for a NB to modify the housing slightly so that it fits a WB? It cant be that drastically different that we need to reinvent the wheel....
