My second gear pops out - I have read on the forum that it is most likely a second gear repair. can anyone help me by telling me what I would need to repair the second gear in the tranny? Much appreciated

Wrong! Yes it's the 2001 turbo. They fixed it in 2002 and up but yes still had some issues.

 

Thats not correct, even 997s have this problem often. I never had a problem on mine till i upgraded to 997 gt2 trans, i read about a lot of 997 gt2s complaining about this. And i tried the gbox from the very beginning, no help.. I will try to change trans mounts, check cables and short shifter and let you know after if i succeded

 

Not sure where your getting your info but your completely wrong. After 2001 they had the 2nd gear pop up but not as bad. 2001 was a bad year for the turbo tranny. If you have a second gear pop up there is no fix and will get worse you need to get it repaired and your looking at 3k plus taking the tranny out and back in so total of 5 to 6k.

 

more conjecture disguised as "information". once again, you're completely wrong. many 02 tts have had 2nd gear popout. i get my info from personal experience. you?? lol

 

Wrong and wrong once again if you don't know something plz don't post. It was fixed after 2001 but still had some issues but not as bad.

 

Porsche may have attempted to fix this problem after 2001 but were unsuccessful. I recently drove an 03 with 2nd gear popping out. It was actually noted by the dealership when they inspected the car. So in my experience its not isolated to 01 but I am not claiming to be an expert.

OP, good luck, its a pretty expensive fix but once you get it done youll be happy you did it...

 

gee, they must have forgotten to fix the intolerance of the gear stack placement in MY previous MY 2002 turbo. i'm willing to bet you know less even than you let on lol

keep drinking tap water smart guy. it is clearly having the desired effect. in the meantime, don't make blanket assertions until YOU know what you're talking about ( which i'm going to guess isn't very often ) but have a nice day anyway

 

Maybe my car isnt 2003 and is actualy 2001 ... and my fresh installed 997gt2 trans is just some refurbished 996 trans from 2001... who knows ?

So, tell us how there were ZERO pop out issues in other model years. Go on.

 

Ok send me post on 2002 and up on here...... also never said zero pop out issues you put words in peoples mouth. I said the main problem was the 2001 turbos.

Ohh and on that note the problem was the 2001 turbos and other years had some issues but it was a low percentage.
