Daedalus 996TT Build Thread - RUF/ADV.1/Rottec/AP
#76
I haven't done them yet but I got quotes from a few places. Quotes run between 800-1000.00 for all 4 not including parts/seals to rebuild the calipers.

Update: Exhaust, Maintenance, and Winter!
So it only took like 6 months but I had Chris from Unobtanium Welding make me up one of his snazzy x-pipe 3" designs with his anti-drone pipes. I was out of the country a few months so I just got it installed this week along with some new L&R front CV boots and GT2 fender liner brackets for some more inner clearance to avoid rubbing withe the 305 PSS's.
The tires still rub but suspension is next up so hopefully we can finally put that to bed with some height adjustments. Onto the exhaust... I was wanting something that would be loud and aggressive when I was on it and quiet at idle and had no drone in cabin so I could still do long journey's in the car on the interstate without wanting to blow my head off after 20 minutes.
The exhaust is freaking amazeballs. It was in the showroom of my Porsche dealer for 2 months while I was out of town and everyone was fawning over not only how badass it looked but the build quality and welds on this thing. Chris knows what the hell he's doing and I would recommend his products without reservation.
The exhaust is marginally louder than stock at idle and during normal 2-3k city driving there is no intrusive drone in the cabin. None. Nada. Just sounded a bit like an OEM sports exhaust or something. A little more burble and crackle off throttle but that's it. Above 4k and holy hell this thing comes alive. It's truly a jeckyle/hyde system and is exactly what I was after. Apparently you finally can have your cake and eat it to when it comes to aggressive sound from an exhaust as well as daily driveability. That and the slash cut tips look great. Oh and having a tune, headers, and no exhaust all this time i'm staggered by how much power the car picked up and the increase in throttle response. It's like i'm driving an entirely new car. Feels as fast as my GTR now.
Only thing that sucks is we're getting 3" of snow tomorrow so I literally won't get to drive her for 6 months and i'll just have to keep dreaming of how badass it sounds.
In other news I picked up a Mini Cooper S to handle the snow duty so the GTR and 996TT can sleep soundly away from the salt this winter.
Next up are some Ohlins R&T Coilovers, sways, RSS engine mounts, completing the upgraded brakes and refinished calipers, and polishing off the interior a bit more with a few final tweaks.
Getting closer to finishing off this project and exciting about seeing my multi-year long dream and plans come to fruition!
Until the spring 6-speed!
