When I had a B5 S4 their were two different types of MAFs. Bosch and Hitachi. The Bosch failed often and the Hitachi didn't. That being said, my car was Bosch and never failed. Bosch MAFs are sensitive to contamination more so than others.

Todd at protomotive does the tunes. Only recently have all the bugs been worked out. Cars run flawlessly and idle much smoother without MAF. I've had this tune for months now.

My tune is also Proto, though 911tuning. Now that I think about it Markski did mention some advantages of going mafless. Maybe I have a mafless tune and don't know it
Alls I know is it runs great with no MAF problems.
