Stiff clutch

Why is my clutch hard to push in on cold starts? Is it supposed to be like that?

Spanky, NO it shouldnt ! How many miles have you got on her, when did you first notice it. Sounds like the pressure plate, how long after you start it does it get light again?

it has 48,000 km's and it only doesn't when the car sat long enough to cool right down. After I start the car it becomes soft and smooth right away, thats whats boggling my mind.

Spanky, you dont hear any noise before or after correct , by noise I mean rattling sound from the tranny. Def. take the car to a certified tech and leave it overnite for them to expreience it. I wish I could hel more but ot sounds to me like you have a weak spring assembly which would get rigid when cooled of and loose as soon as it warms up but what u are telling me is that as soon as you start it it becomes soft, again wish i could be of help more.
Good Luck,

It is the slave cylinder. The check valve inside is letting loose. It will do no harm, just makes the pedal hard.

Stephen, could it be the clutch pressure accumulator? Mine went out around 30,000 miles and was replaced under warranty. I showed symptoms "similar" to the above problems.

Stephen, my clutch is stiffer than other turbos that I've tried, cold or warm. I like it though. However, it is weird in that the clutch pedal will sink down a little bit further as soon as the engine starts. Why is that? I had a new clutch and tranny a year ago so it's not "old" yet.
