Markski,
With all due respect, i haven't raced a car yet in chicago that was faster than my '05 gixxer 1000 or hayabusa. And i look for them... It takes LOTS of horsepower (over 700). Of course, we all know some cars in the city that have 1000 to 1200 hp. But if we are buzzing thru traffic on the kennedy and edens, at 80mph or 140, i will leave most cars behind. .. Drag strip: high nines, low 10's.. stock.. Now, on the road race track, they are even more fun. I assume that you track day your 999. It would be great fun. Last year, i rode a 999R at Barber.... quite fun! Bottom line: as fun as my turbo is, the bikes are a friggin blast.. True instant gratification.. As far as the R & T article, while the MV Agusta is a beautiful bike, even with the trick exhaust it is not as fast as a ZX-10 or Gixxer 1000 or Hayabusa. I wish that they would have used one of those for the test, especially with a few minor mods. The only thing faster would have been the Champ Car, whether you are talking 1/4 mile all the way to Full Mile.. Now, if you start talking Turbo hayabusas, i can have a friend of mine bring a big one to Chicago and he can play with the big HP cars (1000HP). That would be a party. ..

Dave W,
my girlfriend has experienced those wonderful seat vibrations.. what a gas.. First time, i was riding down the coast of CA and she told me what was going on. I tried very hard to maintain my exact throttle position and not upset anything.

Boys, don't knock the bikes unless you've tried them. Lots of women really dig fast bikes, including riding on them.,...

WHAT?!?!? a modded Aprilia beat the Novitec Rosso 360?!?!?! damn, I'm convinced. Bikes are surely faster than cars.

JR,
I do the same... leave most bikes behind... in my TT. My friend has a kawasaki zx12... we did 4 pulls frpm 70 mph.... he worked at a race bike shop for 5 years... he is experienced!
went he got a hit from me... I caught up... when I got a hit.. he never caught up.
I think what happens is that most guys on bikes dont expect me to take off that hard... then they are doing the catch up game.
I have a 999... so I ride as well.... and Im actually surprised myself.

this is my buddie scott's 03 cobra with eaton/nitrous combo w/ 640rwhp @5500rpm's and 755rwtq @ 3500rpms vs a near stock cbr929...scotts cobra runs 10's without the nitrous, with the nitrous god only knows how fast he will go. Bikes are just plain faster than cars in a straight line, unless the car is rediculous. In the turns, the car has the advantage.

yeah...the cobra is fast, but the bike still won to 140ish.

I raced a bike earlier today on the highway...we were even till about 120, then I put about 3 lengths on him. It was an early 00's 750 and I was on my street tune.

what speed are you catching up to them at? if it's 150+ then they are just slowing down because of drag.... the race is already over.
