Hey Markski.....

did you ever have your TT in the Stage 2 or 3?

I ask because "Stage 5" is modded pretty well, right?

Do you think your TT, in a stage 2 or 3, could've taken
some of these liter-bikes?

i had a stage 4 fvd ecu along with k24 race turbos... and I also beat all 600s, 750s,.... not sure about 1000s... probably not. . now this is only highway sprints form 70 to 160/180 mph.
I currently have stage 5 zero clearance turbos with about every possible bolt on u can imagine.
clutch, intercloolers, fvd intake plenums, hoses, etc.... I mean what I say cause Ive done it many times... last time my girlfriend was with me and she just couldnt believe it. 4 bikes tried... one after another. its not like i take off like a sling shot... but i beat them.... one by one. they got so pissed that they blocked the highway on all 4 lanes and caused major traffic issues... now my friend had a busa.. we never raced.... but I also have a 999 ducati... and I know I dont have a chance with that.
all Im saying is that a r1 or whatever 1000 cc bike can take me... they just arent ready like they would be racing another bike.... they dont expect it... I think thats when I usually get them.... cause once Im ahead of them... they cant pass me.
Im gonna take my friend tomorrow and race against my 999 ducati.... maybe Ill record it somehow.

the duc is a nice bike, but doesn't have nearly enough ponies for that kind of racing. keep the duc on nice curvy roads where it belongs

This is an old argument, I had this argument with Hamman7 and others last year sometime about canyon racing and the twisties...a bike will tear a car apart on any track, canyon or street..period end of story...

I think looking at lap times on known tracks is a good measure of performace in canyon carving.

Here are some comparisons of Qualifying Fast Lap times from recent races between AMA SuperStock bikes (1000cc with pretty much no mods beyond tires and suspension tweaking) and some pretty fast heavily modified P-cars. I choose qualifying times because they are generally a little faster than race times w/ traffic and all.

Sears Point/Infineon Raceway:
AMA : 1:36.9 sec
World Challenge 911 Cup Car: 1:40.3
ALMS GT3 RSR 911: 1:35.1

Leguna Seca:
AMA : 1:26.0
World Challenge 911 Cup Car: 1:31.5
ALMS GT3 RSR 911: 1:27.1

Now...if you think your car is faster through elevation changes and twisties than an ALMS GT3 RSR...well I guess you have a winner.

Its also worth noting that the 2 911TTs that run in the World Challenge ran in the 1:43-1:48 range at Infineon this year. They aren't the best gauge because they aren't the most competeive cars out there...but I guess they are similar to the AMA bikes in that they only have suspension and tire upgrades and almost no engine mods beyond bolt-ons and ecu tuning. Just some more numbers to chew on...

that is EXACTLY why I bought it vs the 10. Can't wait to get it out there. The corkscrew at Leguna must be the nuts on a bike. I know it scares me in cars... the downhill at Atlanta is always fun too

DW,

Don't get me wrong, there are guys who track 10's but not many. the 636 is a much better track day bike.. i track day a 1000 because i also ride it on the street. matter of fact, i ride it to the track, around the track and back home. the corkscrew is fantastic, the first couple of times through, your stomach is in your throat. I was there for the moto gp but mostly stayed by the start /finish. At Road Atlanta, leaving 10B, going uphill, full throttle, under the Suzuki bridge, where you must turn, but can't see where you are going is wild. a leap of faith. .. Barber is the same, full throttle and you can't see where the track goes.. check out these pics: www.scassellati.com/blog .. see moto gp
