Nightmare of my 02 996 Turbo X50

I'm now asking Sam for assistance.
But I'm wondering if I buy the K24/18G or hybrid turbos would need to be remapped...
Or else I'd better to rebuild it...
Too many questions, sorry...

if you buy k24/18g turbos you must have the ecu tuned.

I am sad that someone used the word "mechanic" in this thread! I really like your term "car smith" a lot better. I'm going to start using that!
So sorry for your dead engine. Best of luck getting it repaired or replaced. I have nothing to offer on that front.

I feel your pain. Lost my engine a few months back. Went back and forth on whether to tear down or just replace engine. Went with the advise of this forum and replaced engine. Had to take emotions out of equation and just look at dollars spent. In my heart I new the damage to my engine was bad and I could spend a lot on trying to rebuild and it may never be the same. I have the car back now and it's running good but I may never get over the love hate relationship I have with this car. Much more love than hate though. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for all your support.
Here my car smith has just rang me up that the engine would be better for a replacement rather than just repairing as he didn't have confidence that the car will be alright.
Here he asked me to seek for the engine and I have the following questions.
1. I know the engine now is M96.70 with K24 Turbos, can I directly replace it be the GT2 engine?
2. Should I order a complete engine? or engine box from the web?
3. Besides US Dismantler, is there any other option? As there are positive and negative comments as per this company and now they are offering me US12,500 for the engine.
Thanks a lot!

Any 2000-2005 turbo/X50/GT2 engine will work, they all are the exactly the same. X50/GT2 came with k24 turbos and a better tune.. That is it! Do not pay more for a X50/GT2 engine unless you are getting the k24 turbos and then I would only raise the value the amount that k24's are worth. Your car smith will need to swap the flywheel and the power steering pump. I would also think you would need to swap the wiring harness.

These guys normally have one. Doesn't look like they have one right now, but that will change.
