Sellers Regret?
Any of you thought of or have sold your TT and are having seller's remorse? I have an 01' that I bought with only 5k miles on it, it was and still is like new. I truly love this car. That said, I rarely drive it anymore. I used to do about 5k miles a year but now with a different job situation, I am lucky if I use it once or twice a month. It now has 30k miles on it.
I'm thinking of selling it but realize/worry that I most likely would never be able to replace it with another 996TT in similar condition. I either keep it "forever" or let it go. I'm not a 997 fan so that's not an option next time around, if there is one.
Opinions?

In less than a year of ownership with the S5 I found myself in a 997tt. I would keep the 996tt if I were you. Prices have pretty much plateaued and there really isnt anything comparable in terms of quality and fun-factor for the money.

I went through this last year with another car I'd had for about 12-13 years. Loved the car, but never drove it anymore. The fact of the matter was that my 911 turbo was more satisfying to me in almost every way, so that was the fun car that I chose to drive from then on. My other car just sat, so I eventually parted ways with it.
I think if you plan on getting a new car to replace it that you know will be better for you all around, then go for it. But if you don't think you'll be happy with another 996tt or 997tt, then I'd just keep it.

I have 79k mi on my 996tt. Still love it every time I get in. I also have an incredible 650i convertible (60k mi), 2008 King Ranch (92k mi), just sold my 2009 ZR1 (14k mi). I also have several other projects going on.
Despite the imperfections of my 996tt, I love driving it, while keeping in mind the next improvement Im always doing to it. Yep, this one is part of the 'permanent' collection!

I had a 02' c2 with pss9, sways, brembo BBK all 4 points, BBS LM's all the engine bolt ons too.. I had my turbo at same time. I let the C2 go.. Still miss that car. My turbo will leave my possession as a estate sale.

Just keep it. I'm in the same boat where I have 2 fun cars I can rarely drive because commuting in them is not an option. I'll probably sell one of them and keep the TT. It's garaged and sits on the battery tender; depreciation also pretty much bottomed out, so no big deal.
Some day, your job situation may look different and you may be able to drive it more.

This is so awesome! Everybody should have 'that' car. The fun, sometimes, is looking for the right one.

True! I looked at several other cars (besides Porsche) before getting this one. Even with lots of bolt-ons making @700hp on pump gas, she's still solid, with no squeaks or rattles - like a brand new car. Try that with your Vette or GT500!

I just went through this same issue. I had my car listed in the marketplace - '01 with 21k miles - because I'm in the dead of winter and not driving the car makes the payment feel like a waste. Well I had an interested buyer and I drove 70 miles yesterday for the PPI and remembered why I own it. The offer came in low, which is great - since I now can't imagine myself parting with it ... ever. I've owned 8 Audis, 8 BMWs and countless others but this is my first Porsche - and may be my last.

Lol - I remember saying that exact same thing when I got my first Porsche. Now I'm on my 4th and I don't even try to convince myself anymore.
I get some level of seller's remorse every time I sell or trade a car, but the only real major regret I had was when I sold my 1995 NSX. That one should have been a lifetime ride.

I posted mine for sale after losing my job over a year ago (still out of work) but I've ended up selling all of my other cars instead and bought snow tires for the Turbo for the first time. I'm in a similar boat to you but my issue isn't condition since mine has 63k miles and the little blemishes that go along with it, so I could find a similar one pretty easily. My issue is I have about $25k (more? stopped counting long ago!) worth of upgrades, and everyone knows you never get your money back on those!
Keep the car "forever" like I'm going to and enjoy it. Why don't you do some mods if you're feeling the bug or a change or something different? It usually does the trick for me for a while!
I'm a bit of a track junkie too, and I consistently run faster than any of the 997 Turbo (and Turbo S) at the local track, and also consistently run the same times as the several 997 GT3RS I've run against. They're a little faster in the corners, but my extra 200 hp/300 tq makes up for it on even the smallest straights. Back when I had money I looked at "upgrading" to one of those cars, but at the end of the day you get so much more for your money in a 996 Turbo and they can be upgraded pretty easily to make them significantly better (both power and handling).

Good luck with the job thing. I have done some mods that is not the issue. Lack of time to use the car is the issue. I just don't use it much. It's just a waste of a sweet car. I enjoy looking at it as I pull out of the garage every day though.

Sort of regretted it, but got over it. I sold mine for the same reason..wasn't driving it much. I am one of those that needs to continue modding and making it faster. Decided I didn't want to spend any more money on this car, so I sold it kinda cheap just to dump it. Other reason was, I was building a garage. After I built my garage, I started to miss having a "toy". I just couldn't get myself to buy another 996tt, and frankly not in a position yet for a 997tt, so I found a V12tt. While not as FAST (on the highway, roll-ons, 60-130, etc..), it is a 10 second car after just 2 flashed passes, and sounds just plain savage. Point is, there are always options. Good luck with your decision...it is a tough one for sure.
