Arizona Deal
Bought new 03 M5 in Scottsdale, Az. As I recall I paid Az. sales tax and the small difference (Ca tax) when I went to AutoClub (AAA) to register. It was a clean,no hassle transaction. Paid cash for the vehicle new and the dealer made the whole deal really hassle free!

OOOops!
Sorry, missed your main point. i also bought a "new" vehicle titled in the State of Tennessee. Rules required i drive the vehicle 7500 miles before I could accomplish a Ca registration. So,I drove it out of state until I had the required 7500 miles then went to autoclub to transfer title. Paid small sales tax based on some preset formula. The autoclub can layout the process. That too was a hassle free transaction even though I had some potential DOT issues, hence the 7500 miles driven out of state.

i bought the used TT with almost 7500 miles, so will it be the same as your situation since you bought the new car? by the way, i didn't pay any sale tax to the seller(bought the car from VA)
trovan
the seller will send me all the paper work next week, so i only need to bring them and smog check certi to DMV or AAA to transfer the title? i hope it's that easy, it looks like the same if i bought the used car from a private party in ca as well....

David,
You need to take the car to DMV for inspection, within 30 days I belive. All they do is look at the VIN and compare it to the title, they will then sign off and you go and register the vehicle. Hope it helps.
