Mounted up my R888s today
So, 245/40/18 and 315/30/18 R888s aren't exactly direct swap on the Turbo. However, after a little work they fit perfectly now. No rubbing at all. Rims are BBS E88's - 18x9 and 18x11 or 11.5 (was told they were 12" but the 315's don't look stretched enough for 12").
Thanks to pumalex for his write up: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...how-i-did.html
I spent an afternoon "massaging" the radiator brackets with a cutoff wheel and hammer and heating and bending the fender liners but was able to gain a solid 1/2 inch of room in front of the tires. Luckily the rears didn't rub the fender liners at all.
Even though it looked like I wouldn't rub the fender lips I decided to play it safe and have the fenders rolled anyway. I found a local Richmond, VA Cars and Coffee guy (Ricky Wilmoth for you locals) that came highly recommended from the community. He came out to my house and did a great job rolling the fenders. Having tried my hand at fender rolling before (and cracking the paint) I was very impressed with his attention to detail. Perfectly rolled and not a single crack
Took the car out for a quick spin and holy crap... 1000% better than my old Hankook V12's. The 245's in the front really make a difference. Still spin the wheels at WOT but I think it's because the tires are still new and greasy. I'm sure they'll get even better after some miles.

John, honestly I have no idea BBS doesn't print the specs on the outside of the wheel because it's a combination of the center section, lip, and barrel that'll determine the offset.
This is Suman's old car (before Tony had it) so I'm just going off the specs he's posted on 6speed in the past: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tml#post900126

Nice! I just had mounted my new wheels with R888's last week. Sweet tires for sure, crazy grip. Same size rear tires, but I have 235's up front.
How noisy are your tires? Mine howl pretty loud even after a fresh alignment.

yeah you are right the R888s run wide and will def not look stretched at all on a 12" rim so do Michelin Super Sports.
Every car I have been in with R888s on, they were noisy, very noisy.

On my 12" rears with 315/30-18 R888's, they kind of do actually seem a tiny bit stretched. The inner wheel lip is basically exposed... so if you lay the wheel face up on the ground, the rim is touching not rubber.

R888 are noisy and cycle out rather quickly which is an issue if you track your car but not an issue for a street car. The Nitto version of this tire (NT01) is available in the same sizes and has several advantages over the 888s. Unlike the 888s, the NT01 is good all the way to the cords and is much much quieter due to their asymetric tread design. The NT01, assuming you have not run it to a slick is also decent in the rain. Another advantage of the NT01 is the fact that you can rotate the tires left and right by simply swapping the wheels on the car since the NT01s are not directional. I have run both tires. The NT01 is noticeably better and just a touch cheaper if I recall. I get a set for right at $1000 out the door. Toyo owns Nitto by the way...

^^^ +1. Ran 888s for a few years. Hooked on the NT01 for street/track duty.

The NT01 is the holy grail of street/track tires. The problem with the 888s, besides the well documented tread separation failures a few years back, is the fact that the tire will rapidly loose its grip about 1/2 to 3/4 way through its life cycle even though you will still have tread showing. By the time the tread is almost gone, you are already on the tire carcass and grip goes to zero. Funny how the construction of the NT01 and 888 is so much different even though they are basically one and the same company.
