i agree. i *momentarily* struggled with the same kind of thinking since most every newer 911 i've ever had was just a bit "better" than the last. but i decided to throw another $5-7 at the car recently myself with the trans refresh/clutch etc, and i'd put this car up against any 997t pound for pound ( and do every chance i get with no problems and i don't sweat the pebbles being thrown onto my hood until i can get around 'em as much as i would if i heard them hitting the newer car. i just can't believe the diminished value of these cars, vs any/all other 911's.

it's as if we know something that *they* all don't lol

Went to check my progress of my car yesterday and to drop off some parts the clutch looked better then I thought. It wasn't even touching the rivets so we think the pressure plate was going south causing slippage. The flywheel looked great no burn spots so going to use my original stock dual mass.

plus the labor to drop and reinstall the gbox to motor. i have noticed in my experience if you can get in and out of your trans for under $4k you're doin ok. assuming you don't diy any portion of it.

that should be a quick ref breakdown sticky note. for all those of us that have already or will someday open that box.

money well spent. it will feel very fresh

Yes my mechanic charged me 16 hours to R&R my engine and transmission $1280 total. I am excited to see how smooth it will shift it felt great before but with all new synchronizers and transmission mount and engine mounts should drive great!

You may as well throw a new fuel filter in there since it's not much and so easy to access with the motor out. Otherwise looks good and I'm sure you're excited about getting it on the road again!
