Overboost and Limp Mode

I am so frustrated with this car right now!!

Only code is P1250

I did some spirited canyon driving this weekend, and the car went into limp mode. I pulled the code with my durametric and it was an overboost code of some sort (I should have written it down). Once the code is cleared the car runs great until it goes back into limp mode.

I was convinced it was a boost leak so I went through the car like a crazy person. Took it to my indy for a leak test and everything is good.

They are convinced it is a tune issue (GIAC since 2006). I spoke with GIAC and they were very helpful but are not convinced it is the tune.

If I flash the car to stock with my flash loader, the car does not go into limp mode.

I need help!

Thanks!

group.america is infamous around these parts
Probably is the tune - overaggressive... when I sent my old 2006 tune to Eurodyne when I bought the car they told me the old tunes were basic remaps of the fueling tables and boost and rev limiters...... trouble is our stock fuel system cant handle this

My 996 TTS did exactly this... the old GIAC tune was powerful except it tried to dump in so much fuel my DC% was way over 100... also at max torque 3500-4500 the car hated it and pulled timing like crazy .... was hitting and holding 1.25 bars, then if I juiced it over 5500-6000 rpm it would get a crazy boost spike sometimes as high as 1.5...

I hit 7200 rpm according to one Durametric log

my tune was also done in 2006 by the previous owner

Send me your durametric log to 996turbos05@gmail.com and I will check if it looks like my old one

Also, I had a cooling system leak... 1st time I went to overboost I got the limp mode.... only happened once... I drained the coolant and replaced with the Porsche stuff but now that my car is in mod mode Tim found a radiator leak....

Also, check your coils and plugs.... when were they last changed..

Plugs and coils are fairly new. So is the MAF.

I am not hitting abnormal boost levels (according to my gauge).

Diverter valves are good also.

I will log the car tonight.

Thanks!

I assume since you bolded injector duty cycles > 80% that is where the issue with tune was. Is that correct? very useful info.

Just pulled the code. P1250 boost pressure deviation. Exceeds limits value.

I got under the car and tugged on the wastegates. The drivers side was smooth and moved the same distance each time. The passenger side seemed notchey (sp?) and felt like it would get stuck 4 out 5 times when I would tug on it. Should they travel the same distance? Also, I just noticed when driving with the windows up, I can hear a louder than normal woosh, or turbo noise, than I have ever heard in the cabin before.

I really appreciate everyones help, I feel like I take way more from this forum than I contribute. I have a lot to learn.

I just logged the car. I measured for boost deviation but have no idea what the number mean, but would this be consistent with a wastegate issue.

Probably got cold and your over boosting... the limits in the ecu need to get moved out of the way ... just my opinion....
unless the N75 is acting up and or the hoses... maybe do a pressure test as well...

It has actually been unseasonably hot here. Did a pressure test and did not have any leaks. Is there a way to test the N75 valve?

Boost was never over .9 bar. I did not measure injector timing.

Yes. There is a factor duty cycle on Durametric to log. Next to the boost pressure of sensor

On boost u should do a 3rd eat pull. Log it
